BRUNTSFIELD post office has been closed down after the premises were withdrawn from use.
The shop on Merchiston Place was shut to customers last week, with bosses saying they aim to re-open in the area as soon as possible.
Sally Buchanan, Post Office Regional Network Manager Scotland and North England, said: "This branch has been run by a temporary agent since our contract with our previous agent came to an end.
"Regrettably, following the withdrawal of the premises for post office use, we had no option but to temporarily close Bruntsfield post office. We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience as a result of this unavoidable temporary closure.
"We have just completed our recruitment process for a permanent subpostmaster and will be commencing a public consultation exercise shortly. We would like to assure our customers that every effort is being made to restore a service as soon as possible."
