resign for professional drivers

hi i currently work in processing.however i cover professional driving duties on a regular basis as a reserve driver.
there is to be a resign of driving duties in distribution,would i be allowed to apply for a regular driving duty as i have good service even though my duty is still attached to processing.anyone help here with the ruling.

no, first, it is likley that distribution is a seperate busines unit with its own recourcing so you would first have to transfer to distribution as opg reserve, providing that there was a distribution "headcount vacancy"

secondly, promotion to mgv grade (specialist role-selectio by skills) is as descibed in the pro drivers agreement and looks at a number of factors including accidents, points, conduct and time spent driving certain vehicles.

lastly, the distribution staff and their union may have some input that includes arrangements that stop non distribution staff from deciding to try and pick on to another functions re-sign.

hi thanks for the reply, im afraid there are no vacancies within distibution. there have been ag driving duties but these are 18 to 22 hours. as i have a 40 hour contract it is to risky to reduce as no buydown`s are forthcoming.

hi can anyone clear this one up.as i cover professional driving duties on a regular basis as a reserve.how do i actually get a job as a professinal driver if i can`t get into a distribution vacancy.
as im on a 40 hour contract it seems to me that only ag driving duties with between 32 and 25 hours are advertised in distribution.
im actually attached to processing so can anyone tell me the criteria should a vacancy arise for a driver in distribution what is the order as i have good seniority do ag distribution drivers come before myself.
so even though im subject to the terms of a professional driver it seems i will never get a job as a driver can someone clarify the order for a driving vacancy.
