Re: The Future....
The ONLY way to create more full time positions is for part timers to stop doing overtime, it really is that simple BUT part time wages are too low so thus the overtime and vicious circle continues.
CUT OFF!!!

Another way to create full time jobs is for full timers to stop doing overtime.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: The Future....
It has nothing to do with full time and part time
EVERYONE has to start doing the job properly and stop wanting to screw over their workmates/make 1 hr a day
stop coming in early, stop using cars ( if you still do), take your breaks, use the trolleys stop cutting corners
I'm not the first to sday this and I won't be the last
but until the selfish people that do the above stop then nothing will get better

Re: The Future....
Whatever the future holds, the workload is untenable in some instances and in others too little. Now the reason why that should be when all the tools have been used to calculate indoor workload and delivery span is questionable. Some come in early, some are really fast, some don't use the tools for the job, some cut corners. The fact of the matter is that some have modernised and some haven't and never will. Royal Mail simply do not accept that there is a finite limit to what can be achieved and that is because modernisation has only been put in to practice in a small number of offices.

In my section no FT does docket - Loads of PTimers do though
I think to be honest a blanket ban on docket would never work - too many people relying on docket to get a living wage.

Re: The Future....
your partly right especially with tools lets"get rid of all the tools and we might have a future and by tools i dont mean trolleys etc" as for the rest if we are all doing different things in different offices then there can be no unity. i hate the word docket never heard it used outside of royal mail, to me that word should be replaced with inefficeincy because the need for it is down to either inefficeint planning management or labour ........................................................dvbuk55 wrote:Whatever the future holds, the workload is untenable in some instances and in others too little. Re: The Future....
One of my biggest gripes is that PT are given "Hobson's choice" for bailing out depot managers when it comes to cut-offs and ABS overtime, so that they can take home a vaguely decent pay packet, yet I have not heard anything to date about the CWU giving these people better contracts.Phantom wrote:The ONLY way to create more full time positions is for part timers to stop doing overtime, it really is that simple BUT part time wages are too low so thus the overtime and vicious circle continues.
For example, it is so outrageous for these PT staff to get pro-rata extra holiday/sick pay (upto the 39 hour week entitlement after revision) for these extra hours they do?

Re: The Future....
I agree with both of the points made especially about the Holiday/Sick entitlement. There are plenty of Posties on this site that have been working 39 plus hours a week for months at a time. But of course only getting their contracted hours for Holiday/Sick!IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:One of my biggest gripes is that PT are given "Hobson's choice" for bailing out depot managers when it comes to cut-offs and ABS overtime, so that they can take home a vaguely decent pay packet, yet I have not heard anything to date about the CWU giving these people better contracts.Phantom wrote:The ONLY way to create more full time positions is for part timers to stop doing overtime, it really is that simple BUT part time wages are too low so thus the overtime and vicious circle continues.

Re: The Future....
Your posts seem to contradict themselves Phantom. You say "The only way to create full time positions is for part timers to stop doing overtime". However when Clash suggests, "Another way to create full time jobs is for full timers to stop doing overtime"............. you simply reply Nope!
You obviously realise that part time wages are too low and overtime is needed to make up the wage packet, so what are you suggesting? Part Timers should stick to their contracted hours and let the Full Timers "Hoover Up" any extra overtime?
I'm sure that's not going to help the situation and will merely help to divide the work force even further.

Members better wake up shortly and start doing this job by the book.
