A brazen conman walked away with £5,000 after posing as a travel ageny area manager.
The fraudster rang up the Royal Mail delivery office in Halstead at about 7.30am asking if he could pick up a package containing foreign currency destined for Premier Travel in Halstead High Street.
He said he needed to pick up the £5,000 in Euros by 8am to give to holidaymakers who were leaving before 9am that day - Saturday.
The conman collected it in person wearing a blue shirt with a Premier Travel badge and also appeared to have Premier Travel headed paper with him.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Upon checking, this man wasn’t authorised to collect parcels and doesn’t work for Premier Travel.
“We’re investigating a fraud and looking at CCTV.”
A Royal Mail spokesman said they were investigating.

You have to question the room of doomer handing it over.Not for the inside job thing,but why hand it over,i wouldn't of.

It is not the first time I've heard of this.
You steal a credit card, order the currency and nip down to the DO the next morning with your going on holiday sob story.
You only need to have a reasonable knowledge of how a DO works to know you will probably be able to get your hands on the packet without a 739 card.
The room of doomer won't make that mistake again.
