Everyone that leaves now their job will be automatically made part time, most walks will and i presume as many drives that they can get away with.
It's all finished now,the job is f****d if you wanna transfer out somewhere,in the old days it was easy as we were all full time, now you're screwed.
One guy at my place can't be moved because of this!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It would be impossible to complete my round on part time hours so how do they get around that?

Would part timers cut off? No....they would complete the round but not get overtime pay until they have completed 40 hrs.

So whats the fecking point?

I asked my rep yesterday, what would happen if I applied for a full time, 40hour job (I'm part time - 30 hours).

He said that as of now, I'd stay on a 30hour countract with an extra 10hour temporary contract to make up the difference. He also said the same thing would happen to anyone transfering to our office - they would be on a 30hour contract plus a 10 hour temporary contract.

It sounds like a right royal shafting to me - next summer I could see me having 10 hours taken off me for a couple of months or whatever else the latest cost saving measure are.

The point is Image - the DOM gets a big bonus if he can save hours at his office and that why they are pushing it.

They cost less but the job doesn't get done and the price of this is larger.
Fines for not reaching targets.
Unhappy customers (which leaves the door open for the competiton).
Late arrival of mail (which also creates an opening for rivals who are willing to deliver earlier because that it what the customers want).
More admin processing OT claims.
Even more damage to RM's reputation.

I HOUR CONTRACT F*ck me you might as well do a fecking paper round. Pro rota it would probably pay more.

A friend that used to work in my office left five years ago because they wouldn't transfer him and rejoined where he went straight away keeping his seniority, he came back LAST October to his family, tried to transfer back for personal reasons and is still on a 25 hour contract to this day, doing a part time job to make the money up. Six 25 hour duties in my office that do no IPS, now it's getting heavy again we are running over on the sorting the screws wonder why, Happily the majority, myself too book it or break off :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause
