Gordon Browns Praises THATCHER

In a speech by our new PM today, Gordon Brown PRAISED Mrs. Thatcher & Condemed the tube maintanence workers for STRIKING urging them to return to work NOW.

1 - WHY are we funding the Labour party while they hold anti-union TORY views ?

2 - I have always voted Labour, but feel that now I have NO party ( that could form a GOV. that I could vote for ) should I go the whole hog and vote for Cameron, after all he seems to be LEFT of the Labour party... ( its the right wing CONSERVATIVES in his party who are making his life more difficult and want him to change BACK to traditional TORY VALUES ! )

Next election Labour will need MONEY to fight - BUT I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD BE CWU POLITICAL SUBS that pay for it

I'm just Dismayed by the whole attatude towards workers, from this gov......after all they said while they were in opposition about giving workers a decent pay, keeping the public sector etc. etc.

I always supported them during the wilderness years.....now times are a plenty, they have forgotten where they came from

Blair also praised Thatcher when he took over. This is the Labour Party though. Never a word of praise for the people who founded it. Whatever anyone thinks about the parliamentary system (and I don't think much of it), they never mention the working class founders of their party like Kier Hardy, Ben Tillet, Will Thorne, George Lansbury, Will Dyson, Annie Besant, Helen Wilkinson. People who started work as child labourers and who taught themselves by reading books at home or reading political pamphlets propped up against a loom while weaving. Yes, this is the Labour Party! Absolutely ashamed that it's founders were trade unionists and not worth one penny of our money.

I agree with what you guys are saying and spoke to our area rep about this,his reply was we should still back Labour as we have a lot of Labour MPs who are c.w.u. supporters and will fight for our cause in Parliament.

Just walked home from work because of RMT strike shutting down most
of Underground system in London.
Buses packed. Roads at a standstill due to increased commuter traffic.
Mail Centre disrupted due to staff not being able to get in, and vans stuck in traffic.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT RMT


They are having a three day strike this week and again next week to protect
their conditions and pensions after Metronet went into administration.

And Gordon Brown can get stuffed. It was him who gave the PPP contract to Metronet
because he likes Big Business and the private sector, rather than keeping the maintenance
inhouse.

Good on you RMT brothers and sisters. Solidarity!!

I'm abandoning them now, and I certainly won't help to fund them either. It strikes me it's a bit like the old custom of giving a shilling to your
executioner, in order he performs a good job in launching you into eternity. And anyone, particularly a supposed Labour PM, who admires Thatcher,
and what she did to this country, is not to be trusted.

inhouse. Two cock ups now with Brown first Failtrack now Metronet , can't blame the tories for that one ? , PPP's will bankrupt this country, feeding time at the troughes for his mates though . They actually renationalized Southern Region Central Sector , subsidy went down to a third , too Old Labour ,after that French Firm were stripped of thier franchaise for being crap. Same goes for Northern Rail who are owned by three firms . All the so-called improvements are a joke . Private Eye wiped the floor with Gordie, just as much spin as that grinning lying wonder.

Under Labour they have managed to create a large number of public sector jobs, and on the whole given reasonable pay increases. I say on the whole as it's a bit of generalisation.

However, Gordon Brown made it clear last year that public sector pay will have to fall below inflation.

Something seems to have gone wrong somewhere. Our system has gone through a boom time for probably about 15 years now. However, economies go in cycles and eventually there is a downturn.

The way I see public sector is that you never earn what it possible in the private sector during boom times, but you are less vulnerable during a downturn, as your jobs are better protected than in the private sector, which is partly to do with the strength of the unions.

It will be interesting to see what happens as a downturn is where we are heading.

In my opinion Brown should call an election now as if he doesn't he could be the leader as we move into a recession and then he will definitely lose.

As for Brown praising Thatcher, well it's not too much of a surprise as Labour is now more right wring than the Tories
