A MAN accused of stealing post from a sorting office has been charged with theft and is due to appear before a court next week.

Royal Mail manager Ian Robert Taylor was suspended by his employers while an investigation was carried out in June.

The 49-year-old has subsequently been charged and is listed to appear before Furness Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The Royal Mail will prosecute the case.

Taylor, of Maylands Grove, Barrow, has been charged with the theft of a postal packet containing a £20 Next gift card on March 28.

He is also accused of the theft of 15 postal packets belonging to the Royal Mail of an unknown value, between May 4 and 27.

Taylor is also charged with dishonestly making a false representation that he was in authorised possession of and entitled to use a Next gift card to the value of £20 with the intent to make a gain for himself, on April 1.

The Royal Mail launched an internal investigation earlier this year and suspended Taylor from his post at the Abbey Road sorting office, Barrow, where around 120 employees are based, including postmen and women and sorting staff, dealing with post from across the borough.

In June, a spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that an employee from the Barrow-in-Furness delivery office has been suspended following an investigation by the Royal Mail Security Team relating to the intentional delay of mail.” Royal Mail said it would not comment further at this stage.

ROYAL MAIL MANAGER TAYLOR DENIES THEFT
A ROYAL Mail manager has appeared before a court charged with theft.

http://www.nwemail.co.uk/news/royal-mai ... st_cumbria" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ian Robert Taylor yesterday pleaded not guilty at Furness magistrates to stealing a postal packet containing a £20 Next gift card on March 28 and the theft of 15 postal packets belonging to the Royal Mail of an unknown value, between May 4 and 27.

Taylor, of Maylands Grove, Barrow, also denied dishonestly making a false representation, that he was in authorised possession of and entitled to use a Next gift card to the value of £20 with the intent to make a gain for himself, on April 1.

The 49-year-old was represented by Mr Michael Graham.

Taylor was suspended by his employers while an investigation was carried out in June.

The Royal Mail will prosecute the case.

The defendant was bailed until November 8 when committal proceedings will take place.

They couldn't have picked a better photo . If he's found guilty , I think one or two captions could be added .

not sure if this is a good idea to have an photo on this website of someone being accused of theft and any details
of the accused until it has been proven guilty or not guilty.
i am not trying to back the o/c at the office, but it may be an idea that it is alright for this to be on this forum.

The photo is from the original article which is linked to on the OP - and note the articles copied and pasted here don't say guilty, merely that he has been charged and he has pleaded not guilty - Therefore I think we are safe.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
