A man has been fined for assaulting a post office manager who refused to cash a postal order.
Nadir Akyildiz (43) of Milton Crescent, Beaumont Leys, went to cash the postal order at the Beaumont Shopping Centre post office, but forgot to take any identification.
When he was told he could not get the cash he flew into a rage and grabbed the post office manager by the shirt and pulled him into the counter, ripping his shirt.
He was arrested minutes after the incident, which happened at about 3.30pm on August 22, and pleaded guilty to assault at his first court appearance.
At Leicester Magistrates' Court yesterday, Akyildiz, a married father of one, said he had since sought help for his mood swings. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £155 compensation to his victim.

Thousands of "bandit barriers" in post offices are to be ripped down in an overhaul of the network to make it more friendly to customers.
I see it's working well then.

£255 to hit a manager and this idiot wastes it on the poor guy behind the counter who hasn't done anything wrong.
I could have given him some more deserving targets...probably could have got the office to chip in for his fine too.

I suspect this was a benefit cheque and not a Postal Order, you don't need ID to cash a Postal Order. Either way there is no need for this kind of violence, mood swings or not, this story also serves as a warning of what will happen on a increasing basis once POL's plans to turn every branch into an "open plan" environment commence in earnest.

I did not realise that po's were going open plan , a recipe for disaster, proof that we're managed by people who have lived on a different planet for years.
