It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Shortage Of Boxes
Dont think RM thought of stocking up offices that have recently
had CSS machines installed with trays .At GMC there is a shortage
of trays because the DO's need them for their own machines and the
ones that are returned are usually wet,is it asking too much to turn
the trays upside down if they are going to be left outside before
return to MC's.(NO DOUBT SOMEONE IS GOING TO SHOUT HEALTH & SAFETY)

No, just not our problem, we have enough to do without having to turn trays upside down..................and let's not forget, if the MC can't get their work completed they just send it on down to us for manual sorting.blue1873 wrote:the ones that are returned are usually wet,is it asking too much to turn

Re: Shortage Of Boxes
Agree with what you say DGP1 but as i have posted before the staffing levels
at my MC have'nt been cut to the bone, they have been cut to the marrow, i
would think all MC's are the same but as i said originally i dont believe RM
thought about DO's holding on to trays for their own CSS machines

Re: Shortage Of Boxes
The shift I work on has been cut to the marrow on processing side. With the distrubution side it can only be a matter of time before they get jobs axed. With DOs opening later (I think 07:00 is about average), so DOs don't really need a run before 06:00 (they've just as much chance of getting a crap load of 9am specials on the 06:00 run then any earlier run). Probably a number of the DOs could handle 17.5 tonners so that would be a few more runs axed (either doing 2 or more DOs on one trip or a DO gets all it's work in one hit). Logistics seem to be going over slowly to using double stacker artics (if you look out on the roads every company seems to be moving over to using double stackers - though probably keeping some single stackers for where they can't use double stackers).blue1873 wrote:Agree with what you say DGP1 but as i have posted before the staffing levels

blue1873 have you ever noticed that the css machines are not what I would call permantly wired in, they're plugged into the mains with a 3-phase plug and socket and the data cable is just connected in to a normal ethernet port.

Re: Shortage Of Boxes
Surly it's no more effort to return the boxes upside down than it is the right way up?
All our plastic boxes or perstops? Go back upside down, I've only been there 2 weeks so dunno if it's the norm, but makes sense to me

Re: Shortage Of Boxes
Delivered to a house today that had about 30 perstops stacked up outside their front door and loads of empty mailbags. I'm guessing they stuff envelopes but why are they using our stuff?
