Bit of a mute point when the bloody things never keep their charge anyway (at least the ones used in MCs). Can't wait till xmas pressure when we get halfway through the night and find that we have to just sort them and not scan them because the batteries are flat on all the pdas.DGP1 wrote:CharlesSpooner wrote:Someone had best tell RM then....DGP1 wrote:They shouldn't have them, PDAs are for people in vans only.![]()
But how do you charge them when you're out

Keep my PDA in the pouch. Trouble is we are out for so long now that they run out of charge long before you get to the last loop. Nice one RM another wise purchase

I'm lucky that the last hour of my duty is mostly driving, get to charge it up.............at least it stops it from beeping (low battery or really low battery
)
I've got mine down to single figures though
but it was really really annoying

And then you stand there like a d*ck for 5 minutes whilst the thing boots up slower than Charles Babbages PC.feduppostie wrote:course if you know you don't have anything to sign for you can take the battery out till you do
The batteries do run out fairly quickly, but I still have around 60% at the end of the walk (P&L though I don't bother charging it in the van)
How long are your walks or how many signed fors do you get for the battery to run out

Walkers are not suposed to carry them they are for vans only !!
thats why the chargers are in the van , they were trialing a walkers version but it's gone a bit quiet on that one
pda's are designated to heavy and awkward to carry on a foot delivery but i guess the runners will tout them about to save that extra couple of seconds

PDA's are used by everyone in my office now we've had our revision. As far as management are concerned we are all in vans on P & L so we all have to take them.

I guess most of the guys who are carrying them in a bag on their back...are not supposed to be carrying a bag.POSTMAN wrote:Yes fair enough in the vans with a trolley,but not bag on the back.Stormproof wrote:PDA's are used by everyone in my office now we've had our revision. It takes far longer with a PDA than with an Epod card.
