I do not think Billy & Dave will after all our effort and loss of wages will sell us down the river, I think they are in the process of selling their selves at our expence, sad times ahead.

- It's what came out in October 2004 , there was no end of complaints to the CWU about people being rang up at all hours with "welfare" calls , apparently someone on thier own could have fell down the stairs ( Tommo probably does that a lot !) so RM was being "caring ". The New Approach to Absence was on a RM propoganda poster " Noone has been sacked for being ill, only for not meeting our high attendance standards "-can somebody translate that into English please ? . ATOS Origin - Our New Improved Health Care Professonials were also wheeled out by RM. :lfo :cfo

Sure the ring us as it is and i have heard cases of management going to or sending a postie to a workers home with no warning or notice!! its not on.I mean what if we not at home and staying with family if you live on your own?

When telephoned by a m*n*g*r - whilst off sick - your first retort should be, 'Are you enquiring after my health or merely trying to hound me back to work before I am fit enough - to take up my duties?' Note the reply & contact yr Rep. A new masterful breed of Rep is emerging - in the ranks of the CWU. I must go - coz if my wi*e comes home & finds that I have not done the housework - or prepped dinner - she will kill me!

This started in 2003 with a Leighton Clone as MCM , a letter countersigned by the Area Rep was sent out that you would be contacted by three days which in reality meant Linos ringing up as soon as they'd rang in , Staff were also warned they'd be on a Unauthorized Absence Charges . Royal Mail have wanted the Attendance procedure tightened up even more, people ringng up EVERY day before thier duty started . The CWU were in talks for 18 months then in New Year 06 RM wanted it trialied , Team Working & The tightened up Attendance Procedure were rejected in ballots in Distribution . DDA cover was to be withdrawn , people could be sacked for 13 days , the idea was to fast track people through the stages to get them out of the door . RM would argue it takes ages to get rid of the professonial scivvers and malingerers so as per usual One Idea , can't sort the wheat from the chaff .
We've had RM's policy is to return people to work as quickly as possible - To remove the barriers ( Your GP/Specialist ) - Atos Origin will overule your doctor and we'll have work out of you. In 2003 it was G***** will be on the blower and G***** will be p****d off if you ring sick ! to the AGs .

We shouldn't even be negotiating with people like that! Royal Mail belongs to the public and it belongs to the employees who have spent most of their lives in the job! I say get rid of those two, and let the union run Royal Mail. Every year we could have a vote for who is to be on the board. Think it wont work? Think again!
