I know a office in Yokshire had park and loop in for a while now. Last week the .i.b Security people have been watching people for not using their delivery trolleys. Not sure what the reason is behind this move, but the i would if asked even if it took longer. Point i am making is use the new delivery methods to try and see if the walks given adequate time to finish.

Went OK until today - we were going over about an hour, not bad I thought considering it's a new method of delivery and the loops are screwed up - but this morning we had 4 more D2D's appear that had to be delivered and stupid amounts of indoor mail and packets to sort. Lino's pulled people off ISP to prep duties and then, when they realised the ISP wouldn't get done in time they called everyone to sort. I'd literally only just finished putting in two rows of D2D's and put my sequenced mail on the frame at this point.

Lots of unhappy discussions started, and more and more people decided they didn't want to go over and would work to their time.

I grabbed a lino and said we wouldn't get it all done in time today so what did he want us to leave. His response was we had to take it all and bring back what we couldn't deliver and he'd deal with it as that's the proper procedure. So that's what we did - brought back a whole duty but he'd gone home. :wave

Looking forward to tomorrow when he tries to get us to take it out again. :dance

we started ours this week what a shambles, frames all wrong ,some not even finished , where roads had been moved still had it sorted to your frame , some not sequenced, not enough vans for all deliveries, not enough trolly bags for duties, some routes had two walkers no driver , 3 to 4 times more mail sort mountains of flats, every day a different pda and van for delivery some good some crap so you have to empty the van every day of your trolley etc, in some cases not leaving office till gone 12. moaning arguing anger frustration , door to doors not sorted till wednesday actually some still in yorks thurs night some as many as 6. no meal relief finishing at 3 4 5 6 pm , we were told that do what you can dont worry about door to doors then oh they must be done, carry your bags if its quicker just do what is needed to get it done, everybody called up to sort even though your mech has just turned up, the office was as full as any christmas i have worked, i think just to make them look as if they are on top of it, no union support , you wouldnt believe they have had 9 months preparing for it ,the duty i got was tested back in april loop to loop trial never once completed on time 30 hours yet its now a 28 hour delivery and the frame in a worse state than april, planning on duty is awful ,lots of dead walking and doubling back some easy to spot if you know the round some not till your out there so take a note book to keep a log of what to change when bundling up , then wait the planners have some major redesigns on some frames where some need tweeking, queing for ages for specials keys and pdas, our office has failed every day so far thru volume and in some cases cutting off thru time i e 5 6pm and still half the round to do, and not enough staff otherwise its okay

Seems a lot of reports on here have frames and overheads not done, htf does that work.
Every revision we've had there has been extra hrs put in to change it all.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Finishing at 6pm? Why don't people just cut-off once they reach their time?

The only saving grace we've got is the fact that I did my partners for 3 years and know how to bag it up now so we've both get back to the van near enough the same time. On day one I was done 20 minutes or more before the driver on some parts of it. As for my duty they've got some block of flats numbered all over the place on the frame when it only needs to be 48-1 in a straight run.

Madness.

The whole thing is beyond a joke, local union reps are being ignored, Area and Div Reps are letting it happen...

Masonic Activities were suggested, might be partly true.

Iremember when P&L was first being introduced, and we were all complaining about it being based on the model week (in actual fact the figures on attendance calls, and SD's etc were underestimated, even for the model week), and we suggested that things might get tricky come Autumn, the manager looked at us and told us it'd be fine cos youcan just "flex up"...

I, and I am sure many others on here, have to finish on my time to pick my son up from school, during the school holidays when PandL came in, I went over my time most days to complete, usually claiming.

Now, school has started, and I have to finish on my time. I'm expecting counselling (bullying and harrassment) because I am unable to complete. Surely I have no chance of completing, when mal is not to "model week" figures.

This must be a valid defence for not being able to complete? How can we complete, when traffic, call rates, attendance call rates etc are all much higher than the figures used to design the duties? This will be my defence when I'm called in for counselling anyway.

This is becasue Planners and DOMS have fallen out during the planning stages. Planner says this is your revision you make it work...DOM says I think you are taking to many hours out...Planner says it can be done IWT and Georoute says so....When it comes to deployment...Planner says its DOMs job to change overheads and frames...DOM says sorry mate the computer says it can be done so the computer can print out the new labels...Planner says actually the systems I have got can't do that...DOM says oh well lets just bring Phase 1 in and see what happens...Planner says you can iron out any little issues in the PIR...DOM and planner shake hands secretly blaming each other for the catastrophe they are about to unleash on the poor unsuspecting postman. Net result what we are seeing up and down the country. CWU turn to RM and say this modernisation is all going well isn't it....RM say yes it is. Much back slapping and congraulations can be heard up and down the country. Yet nobody is actually telling anybody what is really happening. No one want to tell the Emperor Mark Higson that he is stark bollock naked and he looks a bit of prat.

i often see the comment on cutting off and so on .but the truth is most of these people are newbies or part timers who dont get the support from either the union reps or the full timers . the long servin full timers in our office talk a good fight and often threaten to cut off but never do. so if they dont why will the part timers or newbies , after all they are the ones usually on the end of most of the intimidation that goes on and are often either taken advantage of or left to cope with no real support or training. thats why most of them end up leaving the high turnover of staff is in this area, after all the full timers get first choice in any resign and know the ropes , all to often the newbies or fngs get nothing substantial from royal mail the cwu or the most experienced posties ,what they do get a lot of is negativity, sarcasm and bulls***

Follow up -

The duty we brought back yesterday had to be delivered today but we were told to leave what we prepped today in the frame and they'd try and get it delivered on OT (read: we'll forget about it).

So we go over and book today, get back and it's not been touched. Tomorrow we're telling them we're not going over. :Very Happy
