patenity leave / special leave

Post by MartinBaker »

Hi All,
late at night, and looking for advice, any help greatly appreciated.
I know that I get 2 weeks paternity leave - but I have a problem. I am almost out of annual leave, and my wife's pregnancy has been problematic to say the least (hence my annual leave being almost finished).
The doc's today have decided that for the safety of the baby and my wife that they have to induce her tomorrow (34 weeks). It was supposed to be today but they are waiting for a bed to become available in the special baby care unit as they don't to take any chances.

I cannot afford to take time off unpaid or to buy back leave. Is there anyway to get the two weeks extended without losing out financially as it looks like both my wife and the baby will be in the hospital for a while afterwards?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Please copy/send any responses to : POSTMAN EDIT as I don't when I will next be able to access my work address

Thanks

Martin
