Right you are. What's the deal with opening unlocked doors too? Some glass doors I can see are unlocked - it would be simple just to open and throw... goes for packet as well as little sh1tty letters/flyers.
So much to learn so little time to learn it in... that's the price of a temporary contract i suppose.
Oh, and tearing open Saga clear plastic wrap to allow each of the 3 feck off brochures inside to be put through a box individually. Is that okay, did that, everyone is still smiling. I'll have some of that nana action
i literally fell into someones house on monday trying to get a D2D through, they had a really high step, like stupidly high - 3 breeze blocks high and then the door, i stepped one foot up and slipped, my hand came down on the handle which promptly opened the door! i kind of stumbled in and knelt on their door mat, quickly dumped the mail in the hall and made a hasty retreat closing the door quietly so nobody knew!

There's some people who put notices on their door asking you to leave parcels in the porch ... not sure whether that's a yes-yes or a no-no, it's a bit ambiguous really. I guess if you opened the door and left a parcel there, if it got pinched, nobody would ever know. I don't know. Thankfully, it's a one in a thousand event. Most of the walks I do are on estates with no porch. Unless you count 1970s brutalism, with a bin-porch and an outdoors cupboard ...

Can confirm it's a no-no, the dvd said so, so must be right.
100% its a no-no. You can only pass post to the occupants - or leave it in a secure location. A closed but unlocked door is not a secure location by any definition.

Which brings us to Tracked items which state...leave in a safe place...but by definition any place you can gain entry to...is not a safe place.
No definitive answer or position from Royal Mail...use your common sense.
Common sense says you don't leave it anywhere so it's a service that isn't a service.

What if you can gain entry and the people are home? One particular drop on a walk I do the people never hear the bell nor knocking over their crappy barking dog. Open the door, shove it in, shut door... seems common sense to me.

If they have a crappy barking dog i wouldn't be opening any door.
I tell them now to put the dog away before I let them sign for anything....how the hell can they sign anything when they are trying to decapitate a snarling/barking dog with their knees.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Crappy barking dog is in the upstairs window. If it ever is out on the loose I'll be in a long queue on neighbors ready to kill it - the whole street is fed up with its constant noise.
