Kingston postal service among worst in UK

Kingston's postal service is the second worst in the country, new figures show.
Thanks to cost-cutting exercises by the Royal Mail, one in six first class letters to KT postcodes were delivered late, despite Kingston and Surbiton MP Edward Davey's position as Minister for Postal Affairs.
According to the Quality of Service report released last week, only 83.9 percent of first class letters arrived on time in the three months to June 2011. The Royal Mail's licence standard says that 91.5 percent of first class letters should be delivered by the next working day.
Only Guildford fared worse, with 81.3 percent of mail arriving on time.
Royal Mail has blamed its poor performance on "teething problems" following its cost-cutting initiatives that have seen sorting office closures and postmen learning new delivery routes.
Consumer groups have called the figures "disappointing", and have called for urgent performance improvement.
Royal Mail's Managing Director of Modernisation and Operations, Mark Higson, apologised for "the temporary impact on quality of service", and said: "Customers can be assured we are doing everything possible to deliver the best possible service at all times."

Doing everything possible to deliver a better service?? Is he taking the piss?? We are having cuts cuts and more cuts , this absolutely rediculous p&l being forced in when it clearly doesnt work.
Trying to force lapsing when the time isnt there to do it
These "directors" dont live in the real world , they should get out of their comfy offices and try to do a delivery themselves, F**king jokers

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Royal Mail will probably soon get the idea of all or most of the UK being "Exempted from postcode area targets" and then everything's fine and nobody can complain.

You cannot, will not, "deliver the best possible service at all times", if you refuse to employ the number of staff necessary in order to do so.

Re: Kingston postal service among worst in UK
I don't think you can blame the Jmc, when they shut guildford mail centre, and then ripped hundreds of hours out of delivery, throughout Kt/Tw and Gu.
The whole things a shambles, and to make matters worse you have devious sycophantic Doms and local and area reps going along with it, because they haven't the gonads for a fight, or willing to stand up and say " this isn't right!"
If you do, well, lets just say, they deal with you, as i've found to my cost.
Don't worry, i'll never give up the fight.

Re: Kingston postal service among worst in UK
The Jubilee mail centre used to have the top quality in the UK mid 90s. When Farnbourgh closed and came in their they now have the worst. The inward they have to supply is to all KT , TW and Gu. In addition from January 23rd they are due to take all Sw1-20 inward which will make Jubilee the biggest mail centre in the country. it is going to a disaster !
of course the delivery revisions don't help either. But the mail centre has got staffing problems as well as IR issues.

Re: Kingston postal service among worst in UK
The funny thing is, If you and I and almost everyone on here can see that this will be a disaster, WHY can't RM see it too, why do they continually convince themselfs that everything is OK when it clearly isn'tdingo wrote:The Jubilee mail centre used to have the top quality in the UK mid 90s. Could it be that we have a middle management that are scared to upset the people above them so much so that they will agree to anything ?
RM could be in MEGA PROFIT mode if they just would listen to the people who make the money, not the useless layers of management who PROMISE to save money, but who DRAIN money out of RM with their phantom jobs that produce nothing
The UK is full of people with phantom jobs, pretending to save money through better planning , but who havn't a clue how to grow a company and they employ short term gains for the company before moving on to another company and repeating the same mistakes again.
Meanwhile the company that they have left ( with a big pay-off ) is left to pick up the pieces and employ another "CITY WHIZKID" to get them out of the ever deeper hole.
The cycle starts again.........

A quick look at JMC's top team will show you why there are huge IR problems there!dingo wrote:The Jubilee mail centre used to have the top quality in the UK mid 90s. Dealt with some them managers before. By the way the update is that jubilee have requested an industrial action ballot . Should make the planned transfer of inward work from London interesting.
