Royal Mail introduces new delivery route in Kendal

ROYAL Mail bosses are introducing a new delivery route in Kendal which could mean some people receive their post later than they do currently.

The company said it needed to change the way it operates to maintain services and avoid price increases as fewer letters were being posted every day.

Postmen and women working from the main Kendal delivery office will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day, meaning many customers will still receive their mail by lunchtime.

However, the time some people get their post will depend on where they live on the new delivery route and could be later than the current time.

The Royal Mail said it may also need to change arrangements and times when mail volumes vary.

While people are sending fewer letters than they once did, the Royal Mail is delivering more larger items and is investing in new equipment to meet demand.

A spokesman said the changes would require a period of adjustment for staff and thanked customers for their understanding.

Mark Dudgeon, collections and delivery sector manager, said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in this area.

“The changes to delivery routes will mean that a member of our local and experienced team will still be delivering to our customers in Kendal.

“The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail in Kendal over many years.”

The changes take effect from this week with revised delivery routes introduced on a phased basis.

Funny though no mention of Parcels, Packets, tracked items, Junk mail (sorry D2ds) special deliverys, recorded etc etc...............
