Nah, I've been on the losing side once too often.
I must have lost thousands of pounds through striking, and tomorrow, I will go into a job that I now absolutely detest.
It took me a while, but I now realise just how stupid, how utterly futile, striking with this union would be, has been.

Just to put it in context - I am a Yes (to striking) man and we have not yet had P&L yet - in fact its still some way off.

Because he has had a Walk Sequencing Revision which brings with it a reduction of 1hr in the working week (pay rise for p/t) and £800 (£600 + £200) in lump sums.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Yes, but IA needn`t be just about strikes and as workers i feel we should be getting creative in how we do things to force the employer to our way of thinking and how we enable our part time workers to make a living whilst joining in IA.

Hello newbie alert !!!!!

I've never been in a union or come from jobs / industries that had or needed them ie car sales and chefing.

Can any of you guys shed a bit of light on striking for me, my only experience of it was being a kid in one ofthe coal field areas back in the day when it all got a touch out of hand.

1- When there's a ballot is it all together and a show of hands or more scientific than that ?
2- What happens to the guys that vote yes.... do you still need to turn up to work - but not work, or do you stay at home?
3- what happens to the guys that say no.... do they carry on working, if there are enough bodies to sort the mail or do rm find other non delivery jobs for them to do.
4- for those on strike is there any pay at all from rm or the union?
Please dont be taking the p*ss :left: too much if the questions seem daft but as i say ive never been near the situation before.

1- When there's a ballot is it all together and a show of hands or more scientific than that ? Postal ballot
2- What happens to the guys that vote yes.... do you still need to turn up to work - but not work, or do you stay at home? If there's a 'yes' vote then it's on the gate for me.
3- what happens to the guys that say no.... do they carry on working, if there are enough bodies to sort the mail or do rm find other non delivery jobs for them to do. They go in if they want but usually not sent out unless there's nearly a full office
4- for those on strike is there any pay at all from rm or the union? No money, but there is a hardship fund from the union that may help.
Please dont be taking the p*ss :left: too much if the questions seem daft but as i say ive never been near the situation before.
