Royal Mail: Worcester Park suffers but Sutton posts success

One in six first class letters in Worcester Park were delivered late, according to new figures for spring 2011.

However, the Royal Mail in Sutton hit its target for first class mail delivery for the first time since September last year.

A total of 93 per cent of first class mail in the SM area was delivered by the next working day between late March and early June 2011.

The target was 91.5 per cent.

The figure for the previous quarter was 87.6 per cent, when more than one in ten first class letters were delivered late.

However, there was frustration for Worcester Park residents, who suffered the second worst delivery record in the country.

They come under the KT area, where 83.9 per cent of first class mail was delivered on time. Only Guildford was worse, at 81.3 per cent.

Nationally, more than half of postcode areas failed to meet the 91.5 per cent target for first class mail, while 98.4 per cent of second class mail was delivered on time, just 0.1 per cent short of its target.

The results were released in the Quality of Service report on Friday, August 26.
