Moved to the MC forum.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

How long is a piece of string? RM couldn’t get the "Right to work in the UK" sorted and are now having to screen half the workforce. If you get someone who knows what they are doing, then it is usually 24-48hours.
what is working for royal mail like?
It is a slow painful death, no end of suffering. You don’t have to be mad to work here, but it helps!
On the other hand, the work force and colleagues can be very sociable and you must be prepared to get invited to lots of parties!
what is it like in the sorting office?
Lots of sorting frames and high tech machinery, a new building may be huge, it may have a canteen/restaurant/games room/TV room? Pretty much the same in a smaller MC, but with smaller rooms and a portable TV.
Do you get much overtime?
Depends on how much management fail to manage (although, they do so on a regular basis) Plenty around Christmas, none around Sunday nights.
whats overtime pay?
It is an extra payment made to you if you perform additional work outside of your normal contracted hours. What level of pay depends on a number of things age/height/what team you support/what day of the week you work OT i.e Sunday morning will pay more than a Monday morning. Average (and this is purely as a length of string goes) would be around £10 an hour - ish!
many thanks
I thank you many times as well
