Any Network 2011 hiccups?

Post by hubbahubba »

The arrival patterns have all changed in our MC resulting in 2 double deckers turning up for NDC within 2 hrs!Needless to say the 2nd one wasn't even half full!Good job planners :left: Also the artics carrying the ms2/3 all over the show with the last one coming AFTER the earlyshift has left, meaning a carry-over ever day-you couldn't make it up!

I wonder if that might actually be planned. With each group of MCs if they have one in the group doing all the 2C for the group and the mailsort arrives after early shift has finished, what work would that leave early shifts if they didn't have 2c to sort?

What with the recent changes to the USO,i can see the phase out of the early shift and even the current 1c/2c system,to be replaced with a single rate for collection(public) mail, prob recieving an even worse service than the current 2c rate! :nervous

That's the spirit, lad.

They're gearing up for the post-privatisation mantra of profit-before-service, and you've spotted the cunning plan already: Charge 1st Class prices for a third-rate service :cuppa

To me,with the centralisation of 7.5 tonne vehicles and more outside transport companys doing artic work It looks like Logistics/transport is going to be the first part of Royal Mail to be sold.Eddie Stobart are reported to be very interested in buying RM Logistics just for the prestige.

I have to agree with you disheartend. In my office we have a surplus of drivers, only a few want vr. So where has all the work gone? I believe that some other Voc's are in the same position. Welcome to Network 2011.

At the MC where I work the 600 drivers sign on at the MC and the 600s are kept in the MC yard, when they go over to logistics, I wouldn't be surprised if the 600s end up being kept at the nearest logistics depot (somewhere around Ocean Village in Southampton) and they would probably end up signing on there and doing whatever run they are put on, either from DMC to BH & DT area DOs, or from SO MC to SO and SP area DOs or from PO MC to PO area DOs.

Do you mean all 600 will come under network? Does that mean the 600 drivers at our place will have to sign on and pick up a van at YDC for example.

When is this happening? I'm amazed our great reps haven't told us this.

Anything on paper about this so I can keep the lads informed?

Any distribution staff at DMC will transfer to logistics/network (don't know when), I assume it will be the same across the country. The move of signing on point is just a guess

Not long had a distribution resign at our office, few duties went, but all 600 and smaller vans still very much based at our MC,so don't think its a national outcome of network2011,but who knows whats next? :hmmmm

I did Fri night/sat morn on the dock out of the 10 artics we had in,only three were Royal Mail, the others were Mr Stobarts, leggetts and other contractors, what are our own artic drivers doing now,if all these outside transport firms are doing the work......
