Get the union onto it,down near my way this happened on a new housing estate, area H&S told RM it's a no no for our guys to deliver there,RM got onto the builders and got the doors changed.Straight up.Eric Cantona wrote:Is there any guidelines into letter boxes about two inches off the ground? A Mate of mine at a nearbye office tells me some new houses has gone on to his walk and the letter boxes are a couple off inches of the ground, there is 40 houses and the bag just drops every time he delivers. It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Low Letter Boxes
I hate the letterboxes that are vertical just as much.
People also do not generally like them as they see it as an eyesore. Out of sight, out of mind.
Bit like the people who insist on calling their house a 'name' instead of the allocated number, but thats another thread.
Can also be a design issue if they want the large glass effect or fancy look. Most people buying a new front door do. In turn the letterbox is an afterthought.CharlesSpooner wrote:The only reason I've ever been able to think up is so any fragile items don't have a long drop to the floor once pushed through. Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

That's because people steal your bin...............of course in some areas they'd also steal your front doorStormproof wrote:Spend £100000's on the house put numbers on their wheelie bins but not their housesPat Ostman wrote:

Anyway, I have a low level letter box because that the way the door is designed, two big glass panes running the full length of the door (it was here when we bought the house, just like nearly all the doors on the estate), not that it matters because I've a box on the wall

Remember one round I was on, about a year back, must have had 60 low letterboxes in a row on a new street.
