A MAN has been charged after an attempted robbery at a Hampshire post office when a raider brandishing a hammer allegedly tried to smash through a security screen.

As reported in Saturday’s Daily Echo, police were called to Marchwood Post Office shortly after 2pm on Friday following a report that someone was trying to smash security glass at the counter.

Darren Angoy, 23, of Copse Close in North Baddesley, was charged on Sunday and will appear before magistrates in Southampton on Tuesday, August 30.
