Re: Told to leave mail
Our ex delivery rep has just been suspended for not taking out his summer savings as he did not have enough time to complete his delivery and extra other rounds - Management said this is 'willful delay of mail' and are currently trying to sack him for this ??????????

Not really. If he did not have enough time and followed correct procedures then no.ziko wrote:Our ex delivery rep has just been suspended for not taking out his summer savings as he did not have enough time to complete his delivery and extra other rounds - Management said this is 'willful delay of mail' and are currently trying to sack him for this ??????????
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: Told to leave mail
So getting back to the original question, are they allowed to tell you to leave mail behind to ensure you get round your delivery? Yes? OR No?

But they are supposed to get it all delivered using alternative options.

Re: Told to leave mail
NO
If they have no intention of getting the mail that has been left behind delivered that same day
If they have no intention of getting the mail that has been left behind delivered that same day

Re: Told to leave mail
Of course the managers can tell a postman to leave mail as long as they try to get it covered.
If they do not, its not wilful delay, it's an operational failure. They should then plonk it on the frame for someone else the next day, put the coffee machine on free play, sit down and relax.
Once enough coffee's have been consumed they should get up and leave for home, making extra effort to leave before their official finish time.
