The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

CRACK ON SNATCH!!

Post by L Tommo »

I wholeheartedly agree!!! The feeling is so strong across the whole country and we know we have right on our side!

Move on this!!! RM's propaganda machine will roll out more rubbish and try and make us the guilty party always,
we know this. So play by the rules people, Keep a 28 day Ballot open, have our vote and act on it!!
Take the initiative and make the CWU then RM learn WE WONT PUT UP WITH THE LIES AND BULLSHITE ANYMORE!!!

Snatch, thanks for the mention mate, but to be honest we have had and still have absolutely outstanding union reps in our office and we have been fighting this for years, RM look at offices that they think are weak and try to exploit them, there are no pats on the back or appreciation from RM if you take their side, they will walk all over you, we have seen it at our place where they have put a couple of lads through hell, one had to wait 2 years to get his job back, and weve got Big Dave now, i dare say L Tommo will tell you what complete s***s they are, i just hope when it comes down to it and we have to fight that everybody realises that we have to stick together, unfortunatly in this job in the past there have been too many," oh i cant be bothered "and " im all right jacks," UNITY IS STRENGTH...

wouldnt we be better off if we went on a work to rule rather then a all out strike ? .

STRONG SUPPORT

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Just been on a few Posties chat boards and it appears as though about 98% are in support of strike action. Some are mentioning having a work to rule or a refusal to co-operate (no cars, no overweight bags, no OT etc)

Lets hope when it comes to the crunch we get the same level of support.

i am all for standing strong but someone today mentioned the miners strike of 84-85 and what the goverment did to the num. im a bit young to remember the political side of the miners strike but can or could the goverment crush or disband the cwu like what happened with the NUM . i am probably way off track with my history facts but surly there might be similarities?! oh who cares my life ends may 12th to the woman i love !!!!! :nana

trueth is i think a strike would not last more then a week in our 2 offices if that. most have familys and they just cant lose the money if we just stay out.

MINERS STRIKE

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

I think the big problem with the miners strike is that both sides saw it as a battle against the other. Maggie wanted to destroy union power and Scargill (a communist) apparently wanted to bring down the government and install a communist leaning socialist government. I am probably wrong but that's how I saw it at the time.

However, i don't think that situation applies at the moment. Maggie thought ahead and before she took on the miners she stockpiled about 6 months worth of coal, this is what eventually broke the strike. As you cant stockpile mail and we are the only ones who provide a universal service I think we are probably in a stronger position that the miners were.

I think if the CWU make a strike political it would be a big mistake. Their best chance of getting joe public on our side is to point out the social benefits of a Universal post service and how hard the regular postman (in all sectors of RM) work. They would also be advised to point out some of the problem is caused by the EU and the pension holidays.

A WORK TO RULE . Is an unoffical action as far as RM see it and CAN doo us for it!! Now working to our 318's is a different matter, BIG difference!
It might just be a word but its a very BIG word!!! I for one always would want to work to my 318 as NO ONE wants to loose £££ and in turn hand over business to rivals!! BUT rm know this and still push and push us, more and more because rm think WE are weak, WE are not up for a fight for our rights and for what is in the IR framework that CWU & rm dreamt up as part of the way forward!!! DO we take the bull by the horns and fight out of our STRENGHTS or back down and work to our 318's. I SAY BOTH but use them wisely!! Burslem has it sussed!!! I just hope Big Daves GOOD cause can still have its day!!! GET HIM BACK NOW RM!!! NOW!!!! YOU KNOW YOUR WRONG!!! JUST DO IT!!!

The strike action will come because rm ment it to be this way!!! There race to the bottom is on track!!! So lets let it be known every where WE ARE
TAKING THE LAST RESORT!! THE LAST REAL ACTION WE CAN!!! rm HAVE IT ON THERE SHOULDERS! Put the ball back in there court!! let them lie and tell the public WE /CWU are bad bad militant people with a urge to bring down the infracstructure from with in!!! LET EM!!! BULSHITE AND TELL THE PUBLIC!!

Dont forget WE ARE THE PUBLIC AS WELL! We have mail, We have problems We have a mouth to tell things as they are, But WE HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFULL HOW WE DO IT!! We all signed the offical secrets act, (blue form) So cover our arses DONT break any laws dont break a ballot just STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!!! STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER AND SHOW rm WE AINT GONNA HAVE THERE BULLSHITE NO MORE!

OUT

DONT LET THE rm BULLSHITE GRIND YA DOWN!

ROYAL MAIL - PAY AND FUTURE UPDATE

The Union's postal executive met today (Tuesday 1st May 07) and agreed a
timetable for an Industrial Action ballot.

We have also been informed that Royal Mail has a board meeting tomorrow
(Wednesday) and subsequently have offered to meet with the Union on
Thursday.

As a result, the Union's executive has decided to make no public
announcement until after Thursday's meeting with the employer.

the trueth of the matter is the job just aint the same as it was. when i joined it was 2 weeks at the post office school we had to learn OPS and IPS and how to do collections.
the job has been de-skilled over the years we lost things like the. PHGs. drivers allowance saturday allowance. and the union sat back and did sod all.
now all the job takes is some mug that can read and carry 30+KGS on their back. and they know there are people out there more then willing to do that for a lot less then we earn.
if we dont all start doing the job as our 318s the job will be gone in 5years sometimes the truth is not very nice but its still the truth.

I agree 'kwickpost', been trying for years to drum it into people, STOP coming in early, STOP rushing round, STOP using cars, STOP going out with overweight bags, START taking your full breaks. Alot of this preaching falls on deaf ears, but these 'deaf ears' are the same people who question what the CWU are doing when things get hairy, TIME TO STOP LOOKING FOR HELP WHEN ITS TO LATE, AND START HELPING YOURSELVES NOW!
