Fury mounts over Royal Mail service

UNHAPPY postal service customers have continued to call on Royal Mail to make improvements.

Since the Echo reported that a former postal worker in the city had strongly criticised the service, readers have come forward to add their voices to the complaints.

Marilyn Jones, 59, from Cowick in Exeter, said: "You can't call it a postal service. It's a joke. It has just deteriorated so much and we're not happy at all."

Mrs Jones, who works part-time as an accountant for her husband's business, said post used to arrive every day.

She said: "For the last three or four weeks, we've been lucky if we get post twice a week.

"Our postman used to come at around 9.30am but now it's 11.30am to 12.30pm.

"We seem to have a different guy coming round.

"But what is bothering me most of all is that post I'm expecting doesn't arrive."

Christine Gooding, 70, from Countess Wear in Exeter, said she had not seen a postman for three days, and that her brother had received mail addressed to his next door neighbour.

But most importantly, she had not received her prescription. She said: "I always got my prescription by posting it to the surgery and they would send it back, but on the last two occasions, I never received it.

"When I complained to Royal Mail by phone, I got a complaint number but was told there was nothing they could do. I didn't get a reply to my letter.

"I think the service is appalling and I'd like Royal Mail to do something about it."

Readers have also been posting comments online.

One said: "I ordered a CD and it never arrived.

"My niece never got her birthday card either."

Royal Mail introduced new delivery methods and adopted revised delivery routes as part of nationwide changes to the postal system in June.

A spokesman said: "There has been some disruption to service while postmen and local managers make final adjustments to the changes."

Totally agree , we will get the useless f**king postman remarks, just wish people could know the truth we are being treated like pieces of sh** by the management of RM
Who dont give a fk if the mail gets delivered or not as long as they save a few quid and look good to thier manager , then they will recieve a nice bonus.

When we were on strike we explained what might happen to the service and now those chickens have come home to roost. :vcfo :ncfo

I've never known anything like it...........P&L has been the worse thing RM have ever introduced, followed closely by DSA & SDD. Its not modernisation its retardation of a once world leading service. I hope all those people that have forced this farce through are proud of themselves for bringing RM to its knees.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
