Based on my wages as a F/T I received gross Â£18,000 last year and I work very little OT. So a Â£1,000,000 budget would only cover 55.5 full time posties with no extra funding for equipment etc. So I think Â£1,000,000 would be a very small budget. Just my opinion of course.

Read my post properly - I said an average sized office would have a budget of about a million, an average sized office would have staffing levels of approx 45 - 50 staff.

Sorry, if you took offence, I work in an DO of nearly 300 and I thought that was an average size office.

From the point of view of an employer 'labour' is simply an item of cost, to be reduced to a minimum if it cannot be eliminated altogether, say ,by automation.
All modern employers actively cultivate employment structures and practises that create divisions amongst the workforce.
Such divisions will be maintained by the employer even at the expense of efficiency in order to perpetuate control and achieve the primary goal of cost reduction.

BELIAL.... I like the cut of your jib mate... Well put and exactly how it is.... RM and many big business put a buffer of people grades or a food chain if you like? To feed the corporate animal... Its easy to disband and easy to blame the (Lower) members .. A workforce isnt valued its tolarated as long as its cost productive and is streamlined... IE Skeleton staffed... RM give the old line... "ITS WHAT THE PUBLIC WANT." But when later deliverys and less is now on going.. The public aint getting what thay want!!! No one is apart from the grey suits in Old St....

arnold dont back off just keep it vague remember most of the people on here have had bad experiences with managers in their roll but havnt seen much more of rm than the worms eye view,plus as an ex manager myself its nice to see what other people think
