I think you will find in the agreement the last letter should be no later than 2.00pm ,thats what our union rep said, why dont all the union guys get together and sort out what the f..k is going on,i thought thats why they have a jolley in bournemouth every year. Maybe some of these union guys should get some nuts like our office rep. I feel sorry for some of these offices who are getting shafted, where are the area reps ITS A F.....G SHAMBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not in my copy of the agreement. :confused
Letter delivery completion times will be up to 1500 hours for residential areas and up to 1600 hours for rural.

Fish tank you must have the wrong one, anyway our union rep is class and our new way of working has now been pulled for the forseable future, all the offices getting shafted agree to nothing, if you dont like it dont sign anything off until your completely happy, you only have yourselves to blame if you cave in. Dont believe anything they say they will try anything and lie through their teeth just to get you to sign it off. At the end of it all their is only one way a human can deliver mail walk up the path and stick it through the letterbox its not rocket science, when will they learn there is no savings to be had here on delivery, try too many pointless managers.

Perhaps Union Jack or his rep could post the most up-to-date agreement in Downloads.
That would help the rest of us avoid making so many errors.

Kinda lost here, which aint hard for me...
If RM want to feck around with you i thought the deal was 28 days notice, where's this 12 week thing come from?

exactly where I am confused too POSTMAN. An employer can change your hours with as much or little notice they want if they are clever enough to put such clause in your contract and Royal Mail never fail to miss a trick so I wouldn't expect our notice period to be very much. However if not in the contract then there must be a stautory period by law?

The 28 days comes from IR framework.
That is the minimum timeframe to move through the three stages of disagreement.

The 12 week thing....not sure where that's coming from.

A contract can only be changed when both sides agreed. Unless it was changed through collective bargaining, where both sides upheld what was agreed. Otherwise it would be classed as a breach of contract, giving the employee some legal regress, although not stopping a bad employer from unlawfully dismissing staff.

Fight for your contractual rights they are worth defending and even an employer as bad as RM finds it unacceptable to dismiss an entire office for upholding their contract of employment........ especially in this new way of working

28 days only exists if agreed, if RM don't uphold their side it then it is not an agreed change, never mind what your area or div rep signs. you would still have recourse through the courts against both parties. the deal was s**t, but don't accept less.

The IR framework allows for unagreed change after 28 days if a solution cannot be found.
It's called change by Executive Action.

The IR framework also allows us redress after 28 days if unagreed change is imposed.
It's called Industrial Action.

Yes but Executive Action on your start finish times is very likely to be a breech of contract.
In certain circumstances this might not be the case i.e. overwhelming business need.
But just to impose it without the agreed terms i.e. 1 in 4 Saturdays would not be seen as an overwhelming business need.

The I.R. Framework still doesn't override employment law.

It would be incredibly risky to pursue this on it's own.
However there are other ways to approach it.
If,for instance you could show that,as women are more often the primary child carer would a change in start times negatively effect women more than men?
This would be indirect discrimination...still risky but a better case than breach of contract. :whistle
