wha the managers have to realize is that this is an attack on them as well.
The 40,000 jobs incliudes them and the attack on pensions includes them
you are part of amicus and should be pushing them for a rule 13 ballot are you prepared to stand and fightt.............................i think not

Not sure if they can go for a ballot for IA as their Union is an Association and has a no strike policy. Hoisted by their own petard is a frame that comes to mind.

My one wouldn't, he's one of those one's who quit being a postie after the shambolic SDD came in. To be honest, you could get a monkey to do a DIMs job, but it takes a very special person nowadays to not only be a postie, but stick at it.

Most are not managers, Little man management skills. The odd ones that have skills are not allowed to express themselves, this is due to the structure of the management set up and the incompetent senior managers that know their jobs would be threatened. It does take a certain type of individual to put up with that.
I normally see the best ones give it up because they see it for what it is. DO managers are a breed, often poor postman, sucked up to the manager, got to the position on a who -you - know rather than fit for job. Think that could be about to change in the near future, but the senior managers need a clear out as well.
This is how I see the problem and is not intended to be a wind up.

INSTEAD OF MANAGING STAFF PROPERLY AND OVERSEEING HAPPENINGS ON THE FLOOR, THEY ARE EITHER BLOODY SORTING OR WATCHING FIGURES,
OR OUT ON DELIVERY BECAUSE THEY HAVE'NT GOT ENOUGH STAFF BECAUSE THEY ARE CUTTING OFF!!!

granger mate i think if the managers gave the 'job' over for one day i'm sure we'd see how much of a crap dim he really is so as that goes it's something that's not going to happen unless you climb

the ladder (not really a climb is it) most got off deliverys because they were crap at it and weren't of the physical presence to be able to cope with the ever increaseing volumes of mail (whimps) and jump at a chance of a walk don't be silly we have loads on o/t and they shy away from the walks if they can other than that it's takes three to do one walk

LOL. proved themselves! Maybe ten years ago. and what kind of office do you control with only a million quid budget, a work force of a dozen? in our office an OPG works the budget out on the puter and gives the managers the figs so that they can sit upstairs and cry and fix them before calling them through to the next level.
The only hard work they do is try to con OPGs into overtime and extras to cover up there ineptitude in dealing with there masters whilst trying and failing to get the correct number of new OPGs in for the office. The only thing that Leighton has ever said that i agree with is more than 2/3rds of RM manages are not fit to do the job.
Can i do the job? No sorry i am not that much of a failure.

Do the maths, a million quid budget is for a great deal more than a dozen staff. The budget is set by the financial management team not some OPG in your office, he may well produce figures for your DOM but trust me he does not work out your budget! Budget analysis is sent to your DOM every week by the financial team so he does not need an OPG to tell him how he is doing against budget. I concede that not all managers are good and I look forward to any restructuring plans Messrs Leighton and Crozier have to get the right people into the right jobs.
