^^ Not lapsing on Saturday means we can make up for going over earlier in the week. I also need a bit of spare time on Sat to come back and prep D2ds for the following week. Will only have time to do it on Monday and Tuesday otherwise, which is pushing it.

Prepping next weeks D2D's on a Saturday?

Personally I prep Monday's D2D on Monday, Tuesday's on Tuesday, Wednesdays....etc, etc.

If I run out of time then I either book OT, cut off or if I'm feeling especially amicable and it's to my advantage I flex my attendance hours (v.handy if a night out is on the cards and I could do with an hours extra kip!). I certainly don't take lapsed duties as well!

Do YOUR duty properly and in full first (or as close to full as your contracted hours allow) and only then if you have time do you take part of a lapsed duty.

On a walk I've not done before, had 10 pouches in total, cut off and took back 1. Would've probably been able to complete but the longer I was out there the more I was melting in the heat. I've been home for 4hrs and my face is still burning

Spot on Charles. Doing things like L8Hatter has done only gives the managers the amunition to push you further.

I had a good day today. First day back after 2 weeks off, told the Manager I wasn't prepared to do the supervisors duties anymore, he said I should be able to get them done within my time anyway ( ) so I said not now mate, I'm doing the job as defined by Royal Mail and the Union. He didn't like that much, but I didn't back down...and I got finished with 10 mins to spare, which gave me just enough time to unload the van and check it over for tomorrow. Left the office bang on time.

Possibly didn't explain things that well. Work to my hours, no more, and NO LESS. Saturdays, Tuesday and Monday are when I can prep D2Ds. If I finish 30-60 minutes early on a Saturday, should I roll in on Monday and grizzle about not having time for prep? On the other hand, if we're Saturday lapsing, then I'll kick up a stink with the worst of them.

Moot point this week, as aforesaid electoral register forms came today for every bleedin' call point. Said to the cover lino ' what about the D2ds that still need prepping?'. He promised they'd get done (do them himself if necessary). Came back 30 minutes over, naff all done, so another 20 minutes doing those. Tomorrow had better be effin' sweet

You're under no obligation to perform Mondays duties (the d2d's, as defined in national agreements) on Saturday. If you get finished early Saturday and there's no other work to do (and by that I mean Saturday's work) that is feasible to do within your time then it's an early finish

If there's no time to prep 1/6 of your D2D's each day then your duty needs revising - time to prep that day's D2D's should be included in EACH days workload. Not just shoehorning it in where you can.

Anyhow - back to thread subject....

Stupidly light today (around a 25% call rate!!) - but thanks to P&L got finished an incredible 5 mins early

This was just outside a City Centre, at least two counties away as the crow flies. Had forgotten their Satnav and no map. Pointed them eastward and walked off very glad I wasn't in that car

Yesterday it was 30 deg and i melted on the streets, today was a much more postie friendly 20 deg and it chucked down all day. So 4 hours walking in the pouring rain (must be a song in that somewhere)

I guarantee the parents in that car were slagging you off 20 mins later thinking it disgraceful that a postman doesn't know his way around

Best one I had was a Flash Harry in an Aston Martin pulling up and asking me which way to London. This is in Lancashire. I pointed him towards the nearest motorway and told him to go right.

Been pretty busy these last few days. Mail has been on the heavy side most days, as have the packets. I've noticed more people booking ot since the rest of the revision came in, including people who don't normally book. weather has been good most days, hot and sunny, apart from Thursday, showers most of the day.

Not great today, lots of magazines and stuff. Fitting was pretty crammed by the time I came to bag up. Good job we're into the light summer now, otherwise I might really be struggling to cope. Not kidding when I say these last few Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays have been about as bad as ever. The only saving grace is that amazingly, I haven't had many packets - probably due in part to the significant number of 'driver' packets I have been able to offload. That's just luck of the draw. In other news, our WS machines seem to be doing a great job. We get a couple of trays of walk-sequenced, followed by three times that again in IPS. Hmmm ... value for money? Far be it from me to judge the merits of machinery and progress. I am but a little tadpole swimming in a sea of unfathomable fathoms. What would I understand about machines and them there things that them is supposed to be doing.
