Have 3 suspended on wilful delay, rep needs help.

I haven't the faintest idea what the procedure at Mail Centres is but the DOM regularly gets an envelope with mail that has been collected from boxes returned to him from the mail centre - there is normally not a lot and is more than likely customer generated BUT there has been a time or two in the past when it has clearly been put in the box by the postie.

I get the odd letter back normally written across "miss-delivered" etc.

Unlike my mate the agency worker who dumped all my mail in a box after nicking the packets inc an Ipad.

Postie 2 & 3 came in for a fact finding interview.

I think Postie 2 might be ok as he did not prep his OT ( Line Manager did it) so was not in control of his missorts and did not have the time to deliver them. The mail was left in the van overnight

Postie 3 turns out to have only 3 letters returned (the rest in the bag being d2d's) which is still serious though. Its been passed higher up so its still 50/50 really.

Having to tread careful with Postie 1 as the poor bugger is totally on the edge

All I can say is good luck. I am not trying to be funny but I recently had defended a postie after Royal Mail accusing her of stealing special delivery. The Tribunal judges rule that the postie is innocent based on the amount of evidence that we provided (including signature of customers) but unfortunately Royal Mail scums (managers) followed proper procedures of dismissing her so Tribunal cant do anything. Royal Mail want to make people redundant and they will do anything to sack people. Sick managers and IB thinking they can just do anything they want.

We had a bag search on the door yesterday and 3 posties got caught with mail and have been suspended.

Postie 1. Has really bad home issue's and suffering from deep deppresion and i doubt knows what day it is never mind a few missorts in his bag. He had just a few odd letters and we feel with that he might be ok due to his condition.

Postie 2. Had letters from a delivery he had done on OT and not his round. We going to try that the office was closed when he finished and hope

Postie 3. Is pretty fooked. His a rural driver and had dropped the van back before taking a pouch home and then bringing it back containing a meaty handfull of letters for his delivery, inc a few 1st class.

Our rep is quite worried about Postie 3. Any ideas ?

We are all seriously worried about Postie 1 as his close to the edge of a complete break down

The rep asked me for any ideas so i said i would pick some brains on here.

Also less serious 6 others were given serious warnings for leaving mail on the frame, this included redirections and kill offs.

Just to update this as its quite good news

Postie 1 Received a 1yr suspended warning and was back in work within 2 weeks

Postie 2 Just had a verbal warning and was allowed back the next day

Postie 3 Has been off sick with work related stress since the suspention but has also received a 1 yr suspended warning and is back next week.

Postie 1 and 3 were mostly saved by (the rep) and lack of training given in wilfull delay as they were shown a video back in 2009 but never given a fact sheet to take away.

I think if they were non Union members they would have been well OUT. So a big for our Rep and not forgetting the area Rep

You know they'll come running back to the union if they get into trouble, hoping that they'll get pulled out of a hole.

The irony is most of us on here are smart enough to know the rules to get us out of most of the trouble we get ourselves into but still stay in the union (our ever more useless union).

"most of us on here are smart enough to know the rules" - absolutely, but I only know what I know about wilful delay etc. through this forum, so thanks indeed to those running it for me knowing how to do the job properly, all the more vital at a rural outpost with never a WTL session and only approximately annual visits from a DOM.

It happend at my office, the people caught were shitting it, then we had our revision right while they were waiting for their decision. Well the prep rates dropped and managers were panicing and telling us to leave boxes full of mail on the floor. My argument was that if you are going to sack people for bringing back 3 or 4 letters whilst now telling us to leave boxes of mail on the floor for the next day then I will be informing postcom and advising the posties up for the chop to take pictures as I am sure they would win a tribunal on the grounds that it's ok when managers do it. All the posties got a warning and that was that.
