TRIBUTES have been flooding in for a popular Penrhyncoch postman who collapsed and died on his round last Friday, aged just 45.

Father-of-two Peter Thompson (pictured) was halfway through his usual delivery through Penrhyncoch, where he lived with his family, when he collapsed on the side of the road near Maes yr Efail after suffering a suspected heart attack.

An ambulance raced to the scene, arriving within minutes of the call but, despite paramedics’ best efforts, they were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead on arrival at Bronglais Hospital.

The news has left his family and colleagues at the Aberystwyth delivery office “shocked and devastated”.

How awful to die at work, the job is a very active 4 hour daily high paced walking routine now and Royal Mail should take this very sad death and ask themselves are they doing enough for employees.

I read the full Cambrian News's report of his death in a pub near Aberystwyth on Wednesday and it said that he had as usual had a good laugh and a joke with his colleagues before going out on his round - so his last few hours can't have been as bad as for some people.
