Re: Revision Activity Suspended
Our CSS revision has been suspended and the payment of £600 for the inclusion of the machines and the indoor revision has also been put on hold until next year.
The reason for this, and I quote, "there is no saving to be made and if there is a saving under 200 hours then the revision is not viable and will not take place".
I believe that this is reason for disagreement on many platforms. The original agreement stated that the revisions would not be based on savings and a letter to that effect was sent to Dave Ward as DGSP. The planners have been in for weeks and there is simply no scope for savings on indoors BUT that is not the fault of the workforce who are quite prepared to accept a revision so it isn't a question of disagreement to a revision.
This matter should be taken up at Branch and higher in order to get the reward that was promised and no excuses.

I wonder how big your office is.dvbuk55 wrote: "there is no saving to be made and if there is a saving under 200 hours then the revision is not viable and will not take place".
I presume you are talking about a saving of 200hrs/week. That is 5 full time jobs being taken out.
I don't know of any delivery office that could sustain that level of cuts any more.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Our office is currently under staffed by 28 full time positions.clashcityrocker wrote:I wonder how big your office is.dvbuk55 wrote: "there is no saving to be made and if there is a saving under 200 hours then the revision is not viable and will not take place".

Van sharing will take out more duties and WSM further duties.
Not sure if the impending revision is gonna be a success....

Re: Revision Activity Suspended
The revision last year was very comprehensive and in order to make it work post xmas we took on 18 new part timers. Just 5 months later they are looking to lose 200 hours from indoor duties - there was never a chance of saving that amount of hours. It seems to me that the figure is arbitrary and could be used in any office with whatever figure deemed to be justification to withhold the reward. We have around 150 staff and I would suggest it is a mid sized office.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

What are we supposed to do? We flag these things up the line but we don't hear anything...........most of us are now of the opinion that the area reps upwards are so far in RMs pockets that they can get away with anything.POSTMAN wrote:And we're sitiing back and letting this go on?

Re: Revision Activity Suspended
Maybe we should try and get HQ to take an interest in those things that are affecting the rewards for revisions...............still with the elections going on they're probably busy.................is there anything we can do with an apathetic membership, we took a hit on the agreement, we lost colleague share, despite the revision we have started lapsing again, they are bringing in the flexible hours monkey business slowly but surely, there is still a gulf between duties, and still the staff here are coming in early totally affable about the whole thing, that can only be put down to the union not making sure that the agreement is adhered to and the staff informed as to what is going on nationally and how to combat the erosion of working conditions by stealth.fishtank wrote:And the Network 11 stuff,POSTMAN wrote:And we're sitiing back and letting this go on?

Re: Revision Activity Suspended
done our revision 2 months ago and its still a shambles, bags coming back left right and center. It's not working for us and doesn't look like it's going to without some sort of change. In fact it's the biggest own goal I have ever seen the RM score

Re: Revision Activity Suspended
Ofcourse there is the theory that this is all been allowed to happen in order for Royal Mail to fail this Christmas so much so that the fear of selling Royal Mail off will (in the eyes of the general public) look more appealing. The union is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they kick off and embark on a course of industrial action we will then play into the hands of the right wing press and will be seen as the reason for the failing service. Co operate with Royal Mail and piss the workforce off and risk lossing membership left right and centre.
The key to it all is active positive communication from the CWU towards not only its membership but also to the public as a whole. We must avoid to be seen to be the cause of Royal Mails problems.

Re: Revision Activity Suspended
we didn't know it would work or not when it was accepted, it was a national agreement, we are at the end of the revision process now where changes will need to be made
