Re: firms deliveries
Ours get one a day BUT they do, every so often, normally when Mr Big Boss comes from the City Office and gives our management a kick up the ar*e give the odd missorts to the collection drivers in the afternoon along with the story, "while you're out on collections can you just drop this in at the same time?" kinda thing. This normally lasts around a week and then it stops again.churchill wrote:need some info about your office - do your firms get one or two deliveries a day and what is your schedule

Re: firms deliveries
We have bulk drivers who leave at 7 to deliver firms mail, everything that is sorted after that up to about 8.15 is then delivered on a second delivery before commencement of parcels/packets.churchill wrote:need some info about your office - do your firms get one or two deliveries a day and what is your schedule
However if the later starts come in our IPS won't finish until 8.30 - will then have to be sorted to the frame - so the only mail going out will be the presorted mech mail on the first delivery which will leave a considerable amount for a subsequent delivery - unless they drop it of course in which case 1st class mail will be failing.
I don't think there has been any thought put in to the idea of later starts but - hey - we're not paid to think these things through.

do your firms drivers have an easy life too??
they do next to nothing sorting, stand around while the foot delivery postmen do all the prep, deliver a few selections and packets and then get a two hour flyer every day!!

Not quite since Gioroute hit they even get bundles of mech to throw off on there rounds. The have to do all the medium size prios and all the pre 9.00am ones. The also have to sort and seg the oversize packet yorkys that come from the MC. I've not yet seem any of our drivers finish earlier than about 1 - 2pm.catdeeley wrote:Teebs wrote: The drivers with firms wont be affected by later starts at our place apparently

Mind you we are stretched to the limit we lost quite a few duties and all our nights because of gio-route, also last week in my section we had no dedicated drivers to do bag runs they had let them all go on holiday at the same time

Some more of the 40,000 redundancies in your office then. This is exactly what RM will be looking for. I'd start even looking busy or keeping out of Managements view although this is no guarantee that their job will be saved in the long run.

I think the rural and firms drivers will be coming in earlier than the rest of us, i will have to check the notice board on Monday. We are down for a 5.30 start on a saturday. I have firms collect stuff from Callers but there is no way I will be ready to open Callers at 7am if I don't start till 6.15.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

We have a business park in a rural location,it is part of a larger delivery incorporating a few local villages.
The park takes the best part of an hour to deliver(loads of mail, packets, parcels SD`S ectera a real goldmine)one of the firms pays for a very expensive 09:00 delivery which at the minute on busy days is only just achievable.
This week our DUM was looking into the later starts and possible problem areas, the situation was pointed out to him that under his proposals unless he put an additional run on(a non-starter and nowhere near current volumes would be ready)we could not possibly meet our obligations.
His reaction?A customer visit to try and persuade them to stop using the 09:00 service!
I believe the cost is about £2000 a year,as the firm said to the DO the next day "what on earth was yesterday about?a manager comes here to basically try and put us off spending money with RM,what planet are they from?".
Our mans response "i don`t know but its dim and distant".
incredible!

I bet if that 2k was coming out of his bonus he wouldn't be so keen to get the customer to stop.michael147 wrote:We have a business park in a rural location,it is part of a larger delivery incorporating a few local villages.

It just shows that the screws couldn't give a toss about RM they only care about their own short term greed.
The union should jump on this as an example of the incompetence of the screws.
