Halstead: Post office museum opens tomorrow

A private postal museum will be throwing open its doors to the public.

The Colne Valley Postal History will be holding its annual open day tomorrow from 10am to 4pm.

Admission is free.

The newest arrivals include a restored 1937 Jubilee K6 phone box and postboxes from Tewksbury, Kelvedon and Coggeshall.

Museum curator Steve Knight said: “This brings the total of postboxes to an astounding 108.

“We also have an ever increasing small objects collection and working stamp machines with old money, which are always fun.”

Refreshments will be available in the garden under two gazebos.

The museum is based at 109 Head Street, Halstead.
