Re: Red shirts
is there a current uniform agreement between the CWu and RM...
since the one that keeps being referenced is the best part of 10 years old... and covers uniform items that are not even in use.
as has already been said ... if the Polo shirts are on the order form, and are not marked with a * or similar to indicate that X, Y and Z items are only for non customer facing staff...
although i find that laughable.. since the only RM staff you always see in uniform are those on deliveries, van duties, collections and/or Network duties...
MCs and DCs dont seem to give a f*** about uniform so long as no one turns up in football colours or similar potentially offensive clothing,
and so long as staff in certain areas have hi-vis vests...
the only staff i have seen in an MC with uniform are those that have been there for years and year, or those that have transfered from deliveries...
simply put.. unless the DOM in question can prove that the polo shirts are not for use in customer facing roles, ignore the tw*t
or check with the Union rep.. which im pretty sure has been mentioned

Re: Red shirts
So here we have a company (with no money!!) wasting money on new uniform for all. What happens when we are privatised, do they do it all over again?
There was nothing wrong with most of my old uniform, yet I have to wear the new stuff.
Must admit the DOM here sounds like yet another with far to much time on his hands.

lucky you...
most of my shirts, and polos were in good condition.. the shirts were maybe a bit stained at the armpits after too many summers sweating like a f*cking pig...but otherwise good enough for daily use behind the scenes or on delivery duties...
on the other hand - trousers, shoes/boots and fleece ... not a chance they would be in good enough condition to keep using them...
as for RM wasting money on uniform... last few months i was working in a DO.. they were still having to issue/order new boots/shoes every month or so... and they kept running out of P739s.. and even the sticky labels for undeliverable items getting handed back into the "cage"... and that was even with the PHG placing the orders and chasing up orders every day...
obviously wasting money on inferior uniform was more important that keeping a steady supply of essentials

Sorry to hear of your experiences. My point is some of us had perfectly usable uniform and this new stuff could have been phased in. Most of it is not that different to the old style.
Maybe I have not worked as long as some in Royal Mail, so for example to go with the five perfectly usable red polo shirts I already had, I was sent five more identical shirts which still remain unused in the packets. My fairly new raincoat was replaced with guess what, a brand new one and so on!
Boots and shoes are essential items and any problems you experience obtainining these should be flagged to your manager under health and safety. Remember your H&S is the companys top priority? lol.

If the red polo shirt is good enough for Masood, it should be good enough for your DOM.
Round up the usual suspects.

Maybe we should have a red polo shirt theme night .......and a conga.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The Dom would only be able to send a guy home if he is mixing the uniform, ie. Old blue trousers with new red shirts. It's all or nothing with the new uniformdocket wrote:DOM at LS8 has banned the red polo shirts. He says they can't be worn at LS8 because we have the new issue uniform yet the rest of LS area seem to be wearing them.Last year he sent a lad home for wearing one. What's the position on wearing them?

You could make a few quid.
