The thing is, if they could go to the effort of writing a note, finding a plastic bag to put it in, and sellotaping it to the door in full view of the world, would it have been so hard to walk the twenty metres over the road to the postbox virtually opposite their house, and drop it in? I may be a postman, but nowadays if you go back with a stray letter, be it from one walk or another, you can end up being hanged for the privilege. Thing is - I don't think they realize that missorts and "not know at this address" etc.. just go into the post box to be recirculated and picked up at the Sorting Office. I left it there.
Some guy today handed me an opened letter that was his address but some unknown name. He had opened it by mistake. Thing is, it was ripped gaping open and would not have survived in the postbox. Did he expect me to whip a roll of sellotape out of my bag? 
Why he didn't tape it back up is a mystery to me. Had to take it to the post office and beg some tape. Patt :]

I can see it being gross misconduct if something got into the public domain but can you be arrested and charged for it

Very light today. Arguments breaking out everywhere because the managers wanted everyone to have their meal relief at 7.30, 1hr after most people had started 2 people arrived back at the office at 11.35 and then pissed off home. I don't like grassing on people but these 2 come in early and work through their break, they are reserves and the duty holders are going to get it in the neck if they can't complete!

Caller's Office this afternoon. Apparently it was very light - all the posties were back early but they all had a ton of P739's so I didn't get a light day. 
Had my DOM pull me about a 9AM Special I did a couple of weeks ago that didn't make it until 9:06. This was because my line manager handed it to me at 8:50 and to get there by 9:06 was a minor miracle let alone 9:00. The line manager has since been moved so I'm wondering if my DOM is going to try and pin this on me. I have witnesses who can confirm I was asked at 8:50, who backed me up that I'd never get there in time, and that my line manager said "just get there as quick as you can."

Stupidly light today, last letter 11:45. Enjoy while it lasts I guess. Will be twice as heavy tommorow. Thursday will be hell even though its 'only' a 490 drop round.

I finished about ten minutes early and it was probably the lightest day I've ever seen. I looked at some people's fittings this morning and there was probably a 30% call-rate. I made it last as well as I could. I heard it was stupidly light in our place on Tuesday. My day off was Tuesday 
Went over today - can't wait for the DIM to mention the light Tuesday when I'm refusing to absorb part of another duty on Thurs/Fri. Can hit him with the no banking hours / off Tuesday anyway double whammy.
