And nothing will change because the Union bosses are the only one who can get elected because the ballot rules are slanted in their favour. if a member wants to change things it takes years of towing the line and learning from the corrupt to such an extent some even think they are right against the opinion of the vast majority of membership, they always have an excuse ready that normally involves the faults of the members but ignore their own complicity with the employer to deliver their change at the expense of the membership. Dingo himself has done it several times now to his own membership in the smoke but still backs HQ, What`s the betting he is a full time official paid for by the memberships subs whilst employed by Royal Mail? Still if i had a choice of hanging around Wimbledon with my mates doing very little or going back on a walk sanctioned by the desperate uneducated and the mad left with no other choice i wouldn`t want to go back on a walk full time either. Would love to see Hayes, Ward and the rest of PEC in fact all of HQ do what they expect us all in every section of the CWU to do every day and you might see a change in the p*ss poor attitude towards the membership and our pay, terms and conditions and pensions.

Dingo, I cannot comment on Dave Ward,s abilities as a negotiator for us in deliveries. He might be one of the best, he could be one of the worst. What I do know is that he is very very, even extremely poor at informing his employers (us) of what is happening in the negotiations, what the negotiations are about, whether we agree with him, and if we do, what help we could provide to bring pressure to bear on RM to accept. WE are his employers and as such we should be demanding weekly progress reports on each and every meeting that he and otherCWU representatives under his guidance, have with Royal Mail.

Until he starts respecting those who provide him with employment, there will continue to be anger, mistrust and doubt about his effectiveness. He should be subject to scrutiny, just as we are subject to scrutiny from our employers Royal mail.

A fleeting pamphlet once every six months is not satisfactory in this day and age of job justification.

As someone who knows the union inside out there is no one I would put before Dave in negotiations or thinking in the union especially when under pressure .

really Dingo? Obviously you know the union more than us serfs (!)

and Dave's extraodinary thinking and negotiation skills brought us BT2010 and no colleague share money

not to mention Billy's unique TV erm 'style'

to be honest I think the Chuckle Brothers couldn't have done any worse ( at least they share things among themselves)

time for change NOW if not the union is dead as ( and I know you do not want to believe this) ordinary union members are fed up with the pair of them

that's why I'm not one anymore - not because I don't believe in the union but because I don't believe in the leadership, and I am not alone

Ignore at your peril

Venom and all, it doesnt matter what you say or think, dingo and all the other FTR do not want to listen... you are threatening there little cushy numbers. They will fight harder to keep them cushy numbers than they will fight for you and me.
Ive said it before and i still believe it, just because theyve delivered or sorted mail before doesnt mean they can run the business. we need to fight fire with fire, stop spending our money on FTR and pinky and perky and hire some business experts who will put real options forward the RM have to listen to. when rm say they are closing a mail centre down it closes, our FTR put forward an alternative but it still closes, dingo will say we arent the national trust and have secured no CR... the jobs still go or like me and others we have to travel long distance to get to work. our division told rm it wasnt fair to make us travel because some people cycle to work!!! this was the best they could come up with.

Sorry but the guys that are now entrenched in FTR jobs ect are only looking after themselves, i heard ours has said he would get another job in another company rather than go back to work!!! says it all really

Same old armchair critics spouting the same old stuff, then.
Who do you think "our" union is, the Teamsters, and being run by Jimmy Hoffa?

{Then again, you could always ask why if the union top jobs are so "cushy" then why don't more (including Parky :crazy: ) come forward to take them?}

Moya and her gang must feel a rosy future is ahead when they read posts like yours, Parky.

The letter from Dave Ward

What are the thoughts on the letter from Dave Ward. I got to middle of page 2 and got bored so if anyone can tell me what it means would be good.

DONT GET BORED! READ, TAKE IN AND THEN ACT! They rely on you being bored and throwing it in the bin and then later say well i didn`t know what that communication was about after it is far too late! If you look and read (in my opinion) you are being done OVER YET AGAIN with nothing but words as a reward! If you are not happy then talk to your workmates and form a plan of action on how to tackle HQs ineptitude about looking after "OUR" aspirations.

The Dutch way of doing things and it is not new just the CWU HQ being 6 years or more behind managements thinking.

I thought the letter was too long and this meant the central message from Dave was not delivered. In fact over the four pages it was hard to find any consistent message at all. The bit about the "Big Society" is not something I expect to hear from a Union leader. The new Governance model is also worrying especially if this means people at HQ being given seats on management boards where they will be out-voted just like the Pensions Trustees. Having said that it was good to see Colleague Shhare getting a mention.

The whole lot is a pile of pooh words and that is all the representation we can expect from those at CWU HQ! The only debate left is what we do about it! Nothing as CWU HQ, "Government and the employer expect or start being our own Union as we should have been doing for decades and put pressure on HQ to at the very least come in to line with the workers and what we want and need?
