I think its mainly because managers are so deperate to get away early on sat that they don't care. That is if they even turn up on sat at all, which a lot of DOMs don't. In most cases they don't even know when posties are finishing at 10am because they have already gone home the second the last postie goes out on delivery - or even earlier. Even if they are aware of it they don't want to rock the boat because any changes they may implement could lead to cut-offs then they would have to stay and maybe even go out on delivery

They may as well get used to it, when the D&M and CSS arrives they wont be out of the office before 10 :cuppa

In a lot of offices they do longs and shorts 14.30 Monday ,Wednesday, Thursday and Friday then 12.00 on a Saturday.
and other variations on this theme.
Finishing at 12.00 therefore means working to time !
is it any wonder they resent the untouchables.

I understand that and not saying all are criminals. :Very Happy
There is time on a Saturday to do ips !
You would then have less time to fill with bag drops etc which after were only added on a Saturday to fill the spare time
they have because their businesses were closed.

Our firms walks are the worst in the office after P&L - taking everything means they have a large amount of specials/bulk mail etc and they regularly cut off. They have had it easy for years though.

i have waited to see how the other drivers would reply to this and it does seem a bit of sticky wicket at
the moment.but i must admit the drivers at our office dont do any i.p.s.but the drivers sort up the packets and parcels
into there areas.also 1 driver goes for the missort run the other drivers load their vans.
but no one has said what time the firms vans finish on a monday due to the fact of the retentions from saturday.
also everyone can see what time van drivers finish at due to the vans back at the office you dont see the walking staff
go back to the offices.

I take it at the end on a sat as i need to make sure iam back in time before the office closes. On a week day i take my 40min break around 12 noon before i take out my last trolley (bike) run and then finish. :Very Happy

Mine is a rolling day, others bank theirs and have the 6th week off :Very Happy

Sorry did not make that very clear :nervous

Make everyone clock in and clock out. That'll sort the Saturday sliders out - once and for ever. The 'Firms boys' seem to think it's a perk to sod off early every week. :evil/mad :dcfo :ncfo :vcfo

I was talking to one of our lads who has one of the firms / business driving job and he admitted that he does finish well early on a saturday. But on the flip side he said during the week he does finish late most days so it evens out a lot by the end of the week. We all know that its impossible to make all the walks / jobs equal so its to be expected that some people may have things a little easier. In my opinion though it doesnt really benefit anyone but Royal Mail kicking up a fuss. If there are 10 people doing IPS on a saturday normally and they reassign the driver to do some sorting as well then they will just get rid of 1 person and there will still be 10 people on IPS if you know what i mean. RM will just move people around and save themselves money and IPS staff will still be left with the same rubbish workloads!

Why? What does it matter when you take it? As long as it's being taken I don't see the problem.
It's not being taken though.
Sitting in the house 40mins early isn't taking your break....it's finishing early...in RM's eyes at least.
