I know people have said its only a thin piece of material but personally i find it makes a difference to how hot you are. Any one else agree?

On a bike or getting in and out of a van then just wear the thing and TBH it's not really worth the hassle of fighting a conduct charge because you didn't think you had to wear one. I just wear mine all the time because I don't need the grief from the managers and it stops me from getting a dirty black mark on my shirt from the bag strap.

I totally agree with wearing it on a bike or if your getting in and out of the van. Common sense is what iam advocating. If your constantly navigating the road or its a dark winter morning then it makes sense! The problem in my experience is if you try to push these blanket rules then people tend to ignore them on purpose or just to be annoying.

How many walking duties don't have to cross a road? even on park and loop you will in the main be returning to the van on the opposite side of the road to that which you left it! That means you are not just walking on a pavement are you?

This post goes back to the point that do you need a hi vis to safely cross a road? My seven year old can cross the road on her own fine without a hi vis! Whats the difference between crossing the road during work and in your free time? We dont need RM treating us like small children. If RM put out a H&S briefing saying you had to wear a hard hat just incase someone drops something on your head delivery would you do that? Being a grown up doesnt mean you have to surrender your own free will and blindly follow others.

When Park and Loop comes into an office then both occupants of the vehicle will need to wear the tabbard.

If you are on a walking duty then at the moment the rules are not clear enough that you might get away with not wearing it.

If Royal Mail told me I had to wear a hard hat due to health and safety concerns then I'd do so, I accepted that I'd follow the rules of my Employer in return for remuneration when I agreed to work for them.

I seem to recall the guards at Bergen Belsen said the same thing,and once again your logic is flawed due to the simple fact that most people don't walk down railway lines are you saying that pavements are as dangerous as railway lines?,but when I use a train I travel in the train and don't walk on the line,stay safe and mind how you go.Are you a real person or something out of the Courier?
