Royal Mail today announced that Stephen Carter, Chief Executive of Brunswick Group LLP, has been appointed as a Non Executive Director.

Stephen was Chief Executive of OFCOM between 2003 and 2007 and before that Managing Director of NTL Ltd, the cable, broadband and telecommunications business between 2000 and 2002.

Royal Mail Chairman Allan Leighton said: "I am delighted to welcome Stephen to Royal Mail. He brings a wealth of experience from the worlds of telecoms, marketing and regulation to the Board at a time when we are facing increasing competition from a range of other communications media as well as rival postal operators."

Stephen is also a Non Executive Director of Travis Perkins plc.

There's a bloke on my delivery who used to have a stall selling baby clothes on the market. He also managed to cock his business up. I'm thinking of telling him to apply at the Job Centre to see if there are any more top jobs going at Royal Mail. He has all the qualifications. Shady bastard, useless and with several dodgy mates any decent, honest person wouldn't want to know and as incincere as any politician. He's a bloody shoe in for the post!

He is a non-exec director

Post by F0zziebear »

A non-exec director doesn't get paid much, relative to a managing director / exec.

Non-exec director's are more of a team who sit on the holdings board to hold the company to account. They can over-rule large decisions. I can't quite remember how it works, but don't get him mixed up with an executive director such as Crozier, McCarthy etc...

Sorry I can't be more specific but it's a while since I was involved.

Does this make your lives better? Well the indications are quite important.

This guy has been involved in de-regulating the telecoms industry, so don't be surprised if he is being brought on board to advise on something similar in the postal industry, the writing is on the wall

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Another failed director, why can't RM employ execs with a good record.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
