A COUNCILLOR has said the closure of the Hazlemere Sorting Office signifies a clear reduction in the quality of service for parishioners, which must be fought against.
Royal Mail plans to merge the Hazlemere Delivery Office in Oakengrove Road with the High Wycombe North office, which is in the town centre, in autumn.
At Hazlemere Parish Council on Tuesday Cllr Brian Mapletoft said people who currently receive their post in the morning would not receive it until the afternoon under the new plans.
He said he does not see how selling off the delivery office, which is worth £250,000, will help Royal Mail raise the funds it needs nationally.
He added: “We should say this is a clear reduction in the quality of the service of the people of Hazlemere and we should write to Royal Mail authorities to ask them to re-consider.”
Chairman Judy Weaver said it does not matter to her personally when the post arrives as long as it comes, but she said for a business it could be different.
The council decided to write to Royal Mail to object to the plans.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Concern raised about Hazlemere sorting office closure
So Hazelmere councillors are so naive as to think it's just in their parish that there's a problem that a letter to Royal Mail might solve.
