World Class Mail - Commencement Phase 5
Dear Colleague
World Class Mail
The Indoor Department has received a number of enquiries over the last few days seeking guidance on the CWU Policy in relation to World Class Mail. I understand that a number of Mail Centre Managers from around the Country that are due to commence Phase 5 of WCM, were trained last week which has probably resulted in an increase in enquiries concerning this issue.
In view of this, I have decided for clarity to re-issue the information that was previously communicated by the DGS(P) in March this year. Our position remains unchanged and was reaffirmed by the Postal Executive only this morning, which is as follows:
CWU Response
Given Royal Mail’s failure to adhere to the agreed approach to World Class Mail, we will suspend forthwith all involvement in the future roll out of WCM, until such time that all of our concerns are addressed. In existing WCM sites we will advise members that they should honour their contracts of employment, but should not become involved in any work outside of their contract and or in conflict with other existing National Agreements. We will also insist that the company provide the Union with detailed information on all the costs and anticipated savings associated with the World Class Mail project.
In line with Conference Policy on Emergency Motion E3, we are engaging with the employer concerning the way in which WCM is presently being deployed and when a solution has been found we will communicate this accordingly.
Yours sincerely
JOE MALONE

The Union needs to show a bit more leadership regarding wcm. Some staff and members are getting away with blue murder. We all know that wcm is a farce just to try and make the company look good so it can be sold off. The amount of money spend compared to what improvements have been made is a joke.

Does this mean the union reps are not to be involved in this?
Does this also include H&S reps? Ours say's that H&S have to be involved in it.

Looks like a national directive to me,but that's not to say that "some" union reps and other assorted ass-kissers won't go along with the WCM joke.sheff postie wrote:Does this mean the union reps are not to be involved in this?

How any trade unionist gets involved in this farce defies belief.

There was late running stuff from Edinburgh MC according to customer services.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Brilliant!! Donk, and the sad thing is its not that far away from the truth.
All these people that are 'doing' WCM are not getting the overtime anymore ,but are getting 'toil' instead ,allegedly why dont they ask them to do it in their own time and see how many still embrace it.
or why dosen't everyone get involved with it and see what happens!!

Always seems like WCM is a real big problem for those who aren't actually involved with it...

Re: World Class Mail - Commencement Phase 5
Or maybe the people who CHOOSE not to be involved because they can see what it's really all about-job cuts, and mutual backslapping?Tman wrote:Always seems like WCM is a real big problem for those who aren't actually involved with it...
Bit like saying the only people who had a problem with the Nazi party were those not invited to join?!!
