Hey guys I have taken a buy down as I want to transfer to a differant area as my partner and child have moved away(partners new job£$£$) 6 weeks ago, and I am waiting to finalise our house sale have been told there is no chance of a fulltime transfer but will be ok on 30/25 hours so hence why I took the buy down.
Ok pension payout is going to be cut but I,m one of these that live for tomorrow and will our pensions be worth anything? I have 3 differant ones now!!
But I have made the right move yes I an doing OT but its my own choice no harrasment/bulling feeling guilty.
Buydown was for 12 years service £4785

This buydown siyuation really is a farce, I know of people who have had a transfer, had to reduce their hours to fit in with their new office and NOT been offered a buydown, yet stammerking^^ gets £4785 out of them!
In my situation, my office needs to lose 2x 20 hrs as part of the forthcoming revision, we definitely DONT have any vacancies yet I'm being told theres no chance of me getting a buydown.
Theres obviously no hard and fast rules and it must be down to how strong/weak your union rep and dom are.

Crikey, you must have a good DOM - he's let you buy down your hours knowing full well you will be leaving in the next few weeks 
, most DOMS wouldn't entertain the fact of losing nearly 5k off their budgets if they knew you were jumping ship. They would rather you leave empty handed then replace you with a 25 hr contract - and save even more money

I also think Stammer took a buy down knowing that in the future he would transfer out.
