ANGLING: Postman Adams delivers big fish

Oxford-based postman Geoff Adams must be one of the most consistent big-fish anglers in the county.

He concentrates on large tench at this time of the year and spends his time either at a Colne Valley pit or a secret Oxfordshire stillwater.

So far this year, he has had four double-figure tench, his latest a specimen weighing 11.15.0, part of a 15-fish haul.

All his fish have been coming out during the day, with only smaller specimens caught at night.

They fell to maggot fished over groundbait, a size 9 ESP Curve Shanx hook attached to a 10lb ESP hooklink.
•Linear Fisheries are stepping up efforts to combat thefts of tackle from their big-fish waters, including those at Stanton Harcourt.

Extensive security arrangements are already in place, but Linear have doubled their security night visits, checking all gates and boundaries.

These extra security measures will be maintained while Linear seek police and other security advice in light of the recent incidents.
