It shouldn't (why should non-members benefit from union representation?) but will probably cover the parasites.feduppostie wrote:Additionally, given the unique circumstances of London and CWU support for implementation of the operational and people plans, Royal Mail confirm that London Mail Centre Rationalisation will be completed with no compulsory redundancies for permanent CWU represented employees.
what about if you are permenant but not in the union does this still count?

Re: London Dispute Update
hey wait a minute I am one of those 'parasites' you mention
and before you go all moral on me I was fully paid up member for 12 and a half years before I left in protest at the handling of those at the top during our deal of the century - I simply dont have any confidence in the head honchos of the union to get ALL the members a good deal ( not winners and losers)
until there is a change at the top I stay out
and this latest 'deal' only reinforces that
I ask again what about the members in the rest of the country that have had to relocate due to mail centre closures have the received the same money that London will be getting?

Re: London Dispute Update
Hi Fed up postie. Some voted no in 2003 in a ballot on inner London allowances. Then just London voted yes on IA in regards to Inner London allowances.I ask again what about the members in the rest of the country that have had to relocate due to mail centre closures have the received the same money that London will be getting?

Is this pay back?drb wrote: Hi Fed up postie. Some voted no in 2003 in a ballot on inner London allowances. Then just London voted yes on IA in regards to Inner London allowances.
Is this how a union operates now?
Deliveries screws Processing so Processing screws deliveries?
Everybody screws London so London screws everybody?
We voted for this...you didn't back us with that..we were strong you were weak blah, blah feckin blah.
And in the meantime the union gets weaker and weaker and weaker...
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: London Dispute Update
My argument remains the same. Our local reps are not educated enough on national agreements. There is an agreement/ policy on EVERYTHING. The local reps,(if they are "armed" with education), can break barriers, break the "old guard" . To be honest I am still waiting for the "new school"...alas! Nothing forthcoming!

Re: London Dispute Update
This is great news for those working in London at present and hopefully other areas as well,
but what about the rest of us now who have been waiting for all the other national issues to be discussed and which were supposed to be running in parallel to these London talks.
Are the CWU going to tackle these issues now within a given time scale, or just back off due to the London result?

If you were the LDC would you put that deal on the line and back a call for national industrial action?gerardy wrote: Are the CWU going to tackle these issues now within a given time scale, or just back off due to the London result?
Not a snowball's chance in hell,
So the union is now hopelessly split and completely toothless because without the full backing of the London members there is no hope of a ballot and the national issues...will be fudged and diluted...and fudged again.
Royal Mail knew this and the resolution on London is a small price to pay to castrate the CWU.
Dave,Bob and Co are about to find out the true meaning of hardball.

Re: London Dispute Update
Still closing 2 of the mail centers then? I thought that couldn't be done without compulsary redundacies???

Belle like I have said before we are not the national trust we do not protect buildings we protect people. The reality of the agreement it extends the closing of East London and it has built in reviews on quality and resolving the surplus. If Royal Mail cannot resolve the surplus or if quality dips then they cannot move the work.belle smith wrote:Still closing 2 of the mail centers then? So now Royal Mail have to demonstate that they really can resolve the surplus and mantain Q of S otherwise their plans have to be delayed further as the agreement puts people first. Off course if they can prove that they can resolve the peoples issues without recourse to complusory redndancies and by maximising indivduals first perferences and without complusory transfers whilst mantaining quality of service then they will achive their aim of closing two mail centres.
The pressure is now on them to prove those two big asks.

Yep that part i understood all along.
This part i'm a little hazey on, although i accept i'm unfairmilar with the details. The reality of the agreement it extends the closing of East London and it has built in reviews on quality and resolving the surplus. If Royal Mail cannot resolve the surplus or if quality dips then they cannot move the work.

Until now thought you have been consistent in saying that.... closing 2 MC's = compulsary redundancy.
Does that no longer hold true? by moving back the closing date for East London MC.
is it now your personnel opinion that closing 2 MC's wont lead to compulsary redundacy?
Or one big ask will they houner the agreement you've just reached with them. All be it i do of course realise that you can again ballot your members, and if strike action does happen at a later date you can of course make a virtue of making every effort to have avoided IA.The pressure is now on them to prove those two big asks.
