NEW postal delivery routes and methods have been drawn up for Bolton.
Royal Mail has said it is introducing the changes because fewer letters are now posted each day, while there are more packages being sent.
Bosses have said there will still be morning deliveries, with many customers receiving their mail by lunchtime.
Royal Mail will be investing in new equipment to carry larger items more securely which will also reduce the risk of injury to postmen who are carrying the heavier items.
The changes are being introduced to the Bolton North and Bolton West Delivery offices Royal Mail’s collections and delivery sector manager, Gavin Meredith, said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in Bolton.
“The changes to delivery routes will mean a member of our local and experienced team will still be delivering to our customers in this area.”
“The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail in Bolton over many years.”
Bosses also appealed for customers’ “understanding” while the changes are being introduced.
If anyone has any queries they can call 0845 6011399.

The management, to a Man/Woman, are the silliest bunch of feckers it's been my misfortune to slave for.
What's the betting that in Bolton, things are reasonably OK, but once the new-fangled way of working comes in, it all goes to Hell in a handcart.
STOP TRYING TO BANG THAT SQUARE PEG INTO THE ROUND HOLE, YOU MUPPETS!!!!
