This one done it for me..hours of conversation trying to converse constuctively and i get this...i'm not big in to blatantly wasting my time...COME ON.... COME ON ,.....HURRY UP HARRY COME ON!! WER'E GOIN DOWN THE PUB!!
Pistol, valid points to the questions I had asked originally. 95% of the topic just turned into a mud slinging contest. Even you were posting smilies to start.
yes granted, that was in reaction to your original post,i, like others thought you were another fool just being negative to our plight and aiming at winding us up..believe me there have been a few..however once i realised you were serious i then strived to understand your points of view by which time it had all gone pear shaped..but attacking people's academic standing....amongst other things is/was a bit immature by all parties concerned.
if you aint payin..the mails stayin!!!

IMHO not bad for a company that has got a history going back to 1660
If we had got it together in the first year instead of fighting about it I think we wouldn't be in such a state.
I agree with that point, but the management at POL and RM must shoulder a lot of the blame with their attempts to destroy the union, and not engaging the staff. Their approach appears to be to force things in as though they are always right and no other opinion or approach deserves being listened too.
So basically the constant bickering has lead us to where we are. We have to dig ourselves back out and by cutting off customer access to P.O.'s or business clients from their mail we are only helping to drive them away. YES the company has done its fair share here by loosing contracts but we've added to it by giving them a reason to go elsewhere.

I personally from a RM pov felt that I had no choice, RMG were asking me to do the same job as before but with less pay and worse conditions, they did not want to talk to the union and hence on our side we are in the position we are. I have no doubt that at least some on the POL side feel the same.
Like I said earlier our customers now have the choice to go anywhere for the services we offer. There is no longer the same loyalty due to the open market in which we are involved.

Yes they have a choice they always have and the reason they came to the local post office was it was more than a local business it helped provide a social service and gave character to the local area. Instead of concentrating on this and offering more services, POL decided to try and make all POs the same and the Government hamstrung the service by taking away services that the small local POs needed to survive. Yes we all have to face up to change but is all change either necessary, desirable or effective.
Once they have gone they are gone
.

I hope not and if RMG get their act together and listen to the public who protest the closing or moving a PO, with a real and not faux consultation process perhaps they will show loyalty and come back.

I'd guess he is still living at home with mummy and daddy if he thinks that he is well paid on £18K pa.
But what's wrong with that!
Put it in context. Well paid for what we do. I am not saying £18k is well paid, far from it. But for what we do. Especially when you see what the likes of axeman types. We are employed to hand over stamps. If his view is shared by the employers then yes we are well paid.

Over the years our job has become easier, less paper work involved, no benefit books, computers for balancing no paper balances. Less customers to serve.
You answer the point made with a scripted response from hearsay I would guess and not from personal experience.
Hearsay? scripted? please elaborate.
Well, are you sitting comfortably, then I'll begin! (Anyone remember Watch with Mother from the fifties)?

Scripted means it was written by someone else with original ideas and you would be repeating it parrot fashion not having encountered the experience yourself.

I know what the words mean. However I fail to see where I have scriped anything from hearsay in what you have quoted me on.
Hence the reason I wrote the words.

The only people on here not encountering the experience themselves are the RM workers

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Unless of course you have either:

a. worked for POL
b. have friends or family who work for POL.
c. have a POL office who share your premises.
d. attended their picket lines and listened to their grievances.

In short you do not need to share the experience to have an opinion on it. In fact one poster on here commented
the army is full of working class lads who have an addiction for violence and guns and don't care who they use them on

He apparently never was in the forces. I am an ex serviceman who has been on 3 active service tours, and I allowed him to have his say without making any comment even though I completely disagree with his stance.

And my answer is. Old enough and been employed long enough to have experienced the things I have written about.
