I'm sure that the WRP has a totally unbiased view of the current situation and would not try to exploit the working man ;liar

An extract from the statement by the WRP:

They have been given more than a hint: Greene’s comment is a statement of intent, as these losses cannot be managed in any other way than through compulsory sackings and the destruction of the Royal Mail.

The CWU leaders are at present sitting on an overwhelming mandate for industrial action to defend the mail centres. Instead of activating the strength of the membership and taking on management and the government they have entered into meaningless rounds of negotiations that simply buy time for Royal Mail.

The members are fed up to the back teeth with the constant attacks on jobs and conditions and, as the vote for strike action proves, more than ready to fight.

It is the leadership that is running scared, and must be made to resign. The union must call an indefinite strike to smash the privatisation plan and to defend every job. The CWU must also demand that the TUC calls out all its member unions alongside the CWU to bring down the coalition. This is the only way to defend the interests of the working class which are now under the biggest attack ever.

They must be referring to the London ballot because nobody else has been balloted as yet and the meaningless negotiations have according to dingo born fruit, so that in itself is merely rabble rousing.

How easy it must be to sit on your arse and call for others to take indefinite strike action without pay in a combined effort to topple the Government with the other "workers" and at the same time demand that duly elected representatives of the union, regardless of their effectiveness, be "made to resign" - are we talking the wall here comrade complete with the firing squad or just the umbrella with the ricin pellet?

So do I believe all that is written.............. :chuckle - do you?

The WRP ( Newsline ) is wrong on a number of points some of it misleading some of it understandable.

Moya Greene was mis-quoted by the Daily Mail . She has email out to the CWU and senior managers that she did not tell the Mail that 40,000 jobs would go. The Mail have retracted that statement.

The CWU put out a statement before this was claified and all hell broke loose. In the end Royal Mail apolgised to the CWU and insisted that she was wrongly quoted.

Secondly the CWU are not sitting on a mandate to protect mail centres. Only London has a mandate for strike action and it is over the issue of complusory redundancies. London now has an in principle agreement subject to ratification.

The National Issues still needs resolving and those talks should start later this week. Personally my view is that why would Moya Greene or John Duncan want a dispute on Mark Higsons plan. If there is going to be a dispute it will be on the their plan not the plan which she has said wont work.

I didn't realise that Georgi Markov ( until I looked it up today) is buried in Dorset , at Whitchurch Canonicorum ,which seems very sad . I'm surprised he hasn't been repatriated to Bulgaria.

Moya Greene is here to close mail centres, RM have no intention of working with the CWU and if the CWU keep their heads in the sand much longer they will get what they want AGAIN! and shrink the workforce, this is her roll and nothing more.

The CWU needs to join forces with other public sector unions and fight this stupid government and to fight for our pensions that the CWU gave away quite freely and without a fight!

I totally agree with you Phantom. A LOT of the union hierachy seem to be living in cloud cuckoo land and are letting RM walk over the workforce without fighting our cause. HQ remember who you work for and who pays your wages!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

All hell broke loose....really?
The only thing that may or may not have been misquoted was the headline figure.
It may be 50,000 she is considering.
What does the exact figure matter?
Can London come up with more VR's?....another people plan?...can any area?
It's more job cuts in a business that's already seen 65,000....when does it stop?
If HQ thinks they can deal with this woman they had better take a step back and think again.
They just aren't smart enough....she'll eat them for breakfast. :cuppa

Man the barricades, rip up the cobbles and prepare for.............well really just the usual lefty rhetoric, which will solve absolutely nothing. Whilst the truth is much more mundane, it is a question of negotiating the way forward, as unpalatable as that may be. If anyone thinks a general strike is the answer to, not just Royal Mails problems, but the national problems they are sadly misguided. This recession is a reality, pensions too need to be addressed because people are living longer, proof of which is the number of BP Specials we now deliver on a weekly basis. If there was to be a survey of 65 year olds today most would probably say they would work on, albeit in a reduced capacity.

maybe most people have to work at 65 and beyond , which is quite different from wanting to work ?
at 65 or before i am retiring and i am looking forward to getting up every morning and doing as i please .

There are a finite number of jobs and that pot is shrinking rapidly due to the cuts in public spending and the recession.
If people are forced to work on even a couple of years that will remove another huge number of jobs from the market
Where will the jobs be for those that come after us?
