 That would be quite extreme in 99.9% of incidents i believe,
i think i'd find it difficult (probably impossible) to snap the neck of a mastiff or rottweiller,
one tactic that worked for me (a lot) was to pretend to pick up something off the ground as if i was going to launch it at the dog,
believe me, it worked almost all of the time :Very Happy the mutt would leg it.

if u are truly in a desperate situation with a dog and fear for your life, and in a position to do this,
get hold of it's front legs and force them outwards, it will crush its chest, or at least cause it so much damage and pain it will cease it's attack.

On June 11, 2011, roaming dogs ripped off the right arm, partially tore off the left arm, and severely lacerated the face of 74-year-old Roy McSweeney in Hawthore, Florida.

Good tip but a very hard task with a dog hanging off each each arm trying to tear you apart. Your body weight is a great weapon in this situation so try to get one of the dogs into a headlock or grip it beside you then fall onto it with your elbow or hip breaking it's back, neck, or crushing it's rib cage. However as soon as you do this you are giving the other dog a chance to go for your neck which is lethal unless you take out the first one and immeduiately defend yourself against the second dog. It's brutal stuff but could be your only way out. This could make a good film.
