Well.........you don't.
To be fair sometimes the simplest things are made the most difficult - is it down to the corporate style within RM. :hmmmm

Also the managers try to isolate people both at the initial stage "Well dave does it everyday", and if you stick to your guns "Ok lets talk about this in the office" and then they try to intimidate you passing snide comments, and questioning your comitment. Its as though they have a flow chart and stick to it no matter the situation.
Well said that man!

Didn't say you do BUT if anyone can point me to the specific Statue in law that makes it illegal I'll eat my RM uniform. Why does everyone seem to turn into a legal expert..... what counts here is what it says in your contract.
Not sure if there is a law that stops enforced overtime but there is a European Directive that says you have to sign to Opt out of not working beyond 48 hours per week. So if you don't sign it (I haven't) then there would be certain questions the managers may have to answer if they force you to do more than that.

Enforced non-contractual overtime would be unlawful in as much as if you refused to do it and were sacked for refusing to do it...it would be automatic unfair dismissal.
Specific laws seldom exist with regards to employment law, what are used instead are precedents or previous cases and there are many regarding enforced non-contractual overtime.
In 99% of cases ET's follow precedent...it saves them putting their ass on the line.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Yes,but the problem is it's said too much, who is helping the OPG when he's having these one to scums, where are his colleagues, and yes i'll say it 'again' the rep.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
